AlphaFold 3 has made significant advancements in the field of structural biology by providing highly accurate predictions of biomolecular structures, including DNA, RNA, and ligands. This leap forward is largely due to its enhanced ability to account for interactions between a wide range of molecules, which is crucial for drug discovery and understanding complex biological mechanisms. This new version not only predicts protein structures with high precision but also extends its capabilities to simulate interactions within larger molecular assemblies, potentially transforming how new medications are designed by providing insights into the molecular basis of diseases. https://lnkd.in/guciGc8d

Amplifying to a larger audience _ "Spatially resolved multiomics" in Nature Methods. It's time for a wonderful consilience (where worlds collide). A mantra for me has become "All-of-the Omics !" . None of us has the luxury of provincial myopia anymore. My 'diary' as the Brits would say is full of converts these days. 💡 LC-MS groups are learning about the importance of complementary targeted immunoassay panels to add depth of findings in the low abundance end without the challenges of depletion (#cytokines) 💡 Genetics groups (who have never traveled beyond transcript) are discovering the beautiful work of biology's "worker bees" (#proteins) 💡 Single Cell transcriptomics groups are adding a functional component to their phenotypic models (#cellularFunctions and #diseaseMechanisms) 💡 Mouse (and smaller-than-human-baby primates) are stretching their precious aliquots by getting 100's-1000's of proteins from <7uL of sample (#elucidation, #transformative #DriedBlotSpots) The future is bright A N D the brightest "label" has no autofluorescence and is dependent upon unique DNA barcodes (#ImmunoPCR)

The first meeting of the new generation of Dutch HD and SCA1 and SCA3 PhD students within our NWA-ORC consortium CureQ. They will be generating and examining isogenic celllines and biobanks with different CAG repeats, combine data sets to generate AI models to improve determination of age-of-onset, develop and validate new therapeutic startegies, and formulate the conditions for a morally acceptable implementation of the results in society.
