🥡This Chinese deliveryman’s viral video captured Cadillac China’s attention Eason, a food deliveryman from central China’s Hunan province, went viral last week with his video promoting Cadillac cars in fluent English. Watch the video below.👇 🚗With only a secondary technical school degree, Eason spent eight years teaching himself English by memorising vocabulary while delivering food. Though he doesn’t own a Cadillac yet, his video caught the eye of Cadillac China's VP, Tim Heile. Heile flew to meet Eason, encouraging him to keep his dream alive. He even joined Eason for food deliveries and took him for a ride in a Cadillac. Their recorded videos also went viral online. This is a great example of how brands can leverage their marketing in China by staying on top of online trends. We know we should get up to exercise regularly, but our beds can be so warm and cozy. We know we should order a salad, but the steak frites on the menu look so good. We know we should read more, but there's so much great content on Netflix. We know we should limit our screen time, but our screens are so much fun! The list goes on. We usually know which choices are best for us, we just don't always make them. Apparently, there's a word for that. Akrasia is an ancient Greek word meaning, "a lack of self-control or the state of acting against one's better judgment." Why don't we always make the best choices for ourselves? There are lots of reasons. A lack of willpower. An often overwhelming preference for immediate pleasure, even at the expense of a greater future benefit. Sometimes, sheer laziness. But imagine what we might collectively achieve if we were all a little less akractic. Knowing the theory is good, but putting it to work is better. #dpThoughts #choices #willpower

Math. For every raffle I participated in, there is an expected value. Over time and enough raffles, I should be close to the cumulative expected value with my winnings. Here's how that actually played out over 53 raffles. Because most of the ones I did had an expected value around the cost, the orange line looks pretty linear. The blue, when flat, are my losses. You can see a string of losses late in my experiment put me below the cumulative expected, but there were four occasions where I was above the line. A single win, instead of a loss, might have made the difference (in that string of losses are ones where I had a 1 in 5 chance, a 1 in 3.8 chance, and a 1 in 6.8 chance, all which would have put me over the orange line again)

Hotel clients often want a restaurant that shifts with the day – from morning to night. They avoid calling it an All Day Diner. They prefer 'Signature' with breakfast. A guest may skip dinner where they ate breakfast. Likewise, a visitor won't dine in a space made for morning buffets. So, how does a restaurant space get that flexibility necessary to be attractive for multiple meal periods? The urban planning team at MIT Media Lab is involved in a project called Ori Systems that uses clever design and robotics to create transformable inserts for studio apartments. As a prototype, they designed a 200 Sq ft space that had the functionality of an 800 sq ft apartment.  Architectural robotics they call it. They’ve also partnered with Marriott Hotels to provide flexible, room configurations -  imagine a bed that lifts into the ceiling to reveal a table for dinner or desk for work – all at the touch of a button, via a voice command or via a tap on one’s phone. A single space that can change functionality quickly and efficiently. That’s pretty clever and although restaurants are different to rooms, the application of this technology and thinking has real potential for F&B. Adopting this smart tech could transform our all-day dining venues, enabling seamless transitions from morning meals to signature evening dining.
