During my travels (car, boat, train or plane 😄), I often spend time listening to podcasts, and one of my favorite ones is definitely the conversation between Lex Fridman and Jeff Bezos that was released in Dec '23. Among covering a range of topics including innovation, leadership, and space exploration, one particularly fascinating point was how Bezos approaches decision-making. He emphasized the importance of high-velocity decisions and how making choices with limited information can drive progress and innovation. The full link is below. Honour: As has been mentioned, honour is often reserved for those who do great things and expect nothing in return. Well, it's honorable that I get to work with Moriba daily and with my son Ciarán. You can see some of that in my comment below, where we are sharing Moriba et al's work. Satellites are necessary! Imagine, if you will, a day without satellite technology... How long to complete chaos? Of course, we would stabilize, but there would be madness. #protectorbitalhighways or suffer. It's a choice!

Very true insight from #JeffBezos from BLUE ORIGIN on #NewGlenn on a recent Lex Fridman podcast:   “The first launch is one thing. The bigger challenge is making sure that our factory is efficiently manufacturing at rate. [..] Rate manufacturing is at least as difficult as designing the vehicle in the first place.”   In our work we often see that #manufacturing is seen as an afterthought and that is partly due to history where space hardware were one-off articles that were re-engineered every time a new customer came along. Times have changed. To make space truly accessible requires rate manufacturing with significant cost reductions. This leads to two challenges:   First, space hardware must be standardized as much as possible to limit re-engineering efforts.   Second, manufacturing needs to be setup for scale and rate while also being (cost-)efficient.   From our experience, both are extremely difficult challenges in the #space #industry that we will continue to help solve in 2024.
