Create your public Roadmap, straight from Jira. Sharing a roadmap is one of the best ways to keep your team, stakeholders, and customers aligned. It shows what’s coming, when it’s expected, and how everything fits together. But while creating a roadmap in Jira or Jira Product Discovery is straightforward, sharing it—especially a public version—can be a challenge. In today's post, we’ll explore the benefits of sharing your Jira roadmap, the challenges people face today, and how Released makes it easier than ever to share your public roadmap directly from Jira. https://lnkd.in/gf74d4BV #atlassian #jira #roadmaps #customerlove

🎯Atlassian Consultant & Agile Coach 🎯| I help product and service organisations streamline ops and embrace modern work practises with Jira, Jira Service Management, Agile and ITSM.
Did you know that by default, the Timeline view in Atlassian Jira only shows parent and standard issue types? I often get the following questions: ❓ what is the Epic? ❓ can I show Timeline in Jira without Epics? ❓ where are all of my Sub-tasks on the Timeline? ❓ can I show the duration of the standard issue types on the Timeline? Lot what said and written about Epics. Recently Robert Hean provided interesting view on work decomposition. On a daily basis I'm working with teams that experience lot of challenges to translate their projects scopes into work Jira backlog and timeline that makes sense for the context they operate in. Epic being bigger chunk of work and deliverable could be broken down into smaller activities - actions - tasks that the team need to work on to get the deliverable out of the door. In Jira's term Epic is the default parent issue type. The items that are beneath the Epic are child issues. These can be Story or Task and these are default standard issue types. If your team decide to further break down User Story or Task into sub-tasks you need to know there're the limitations of the Timeline for such issues hierarchy, 🌟 By default, the timeline view in Jira Software Cloud only shows parent and standard issue types. Standard issue type can be Story or Task. It can also be your custom Issue Type as long as you'll create it as a Standard one. 🌟 Child issues without a parent won't be shown on the Timeline. You will see the icon indicating there're sub-tasks instead but you can't drill down from the Jira Timeline into the level of Sub-tasks. 🌟 Epics can be useful for categorising and organising work, even in non-development contexts. Don't resign from them. You can use them as the Milestone indicator or to define complete functionality you want to develop in the product. 🌟 If you need to have more custom structures and create form of a Gantt chart and project plan with dependencies consider advanced planning capabilities from Jira called Plans. #jira #agilecoach #atlassian #productdevelopment #projectplans
