Habit building, discipline exercises, milestones, goal setting... These are all very admirable actions, and folks should have them, BUT... Most of us forget to ask and answer this very important question: What INTENTION is our focus and discipline serving? Without a clear intention, we might very well end up... …saving $3000 for something toxic. …reading 20 books that add clutter to our brain. …running 70 marathons that leave us feeling like we went nowhere. It’s not so much the effort that counts as the intention such effort serves.

We save you at least 200 hours of work a year by systematizing your operations | Take The Systematization Assessment to know how.
Goals are worthless! Here my thoughts… I am going to put a very simple example. Last year I wanted to run a half marathon in less than 2 hours, that was my goal. Now how did I get there? Just by running? If it was that easy, I would just run a half marathon every day until I get faster. Having a system is far superior. I created a simple system, one day a week I did a very long run, with a very slow pace. Another day I would do sprints and hills, to developed my strength. And a third day would be short runs trying to keep specific speeds. The result was that not only I made it under two hours, but I was able to almost sprint the whole last kilometre. If you want to have a team that works on systems to achieve their goals, just let me know.

Triathletes, our training journey isn't a straight path; it's a twisting, turning adventure. Setbacks and injuries are detours, not dead ends. We shift focus to what we CAN do, rehab smart, and nurture resilience. We remember our 'why' - the dream that ignited this journey. Patience becomes our coach; it teaches us that every setback is a setup for a comeback. We visualize our return, stronger than before. Setbacks are part of our story; they make us warriors. Early mornings. Long runs over the weekend in the summer. Mindset work. It was race day. October 10, 2010 Chicago Marathon #chicagomarathon Running for Autism Speaks 26.2 miles By mile 12, it was 96 degrees. Temperatures outside the norm for Chicago They started to turn runners away —if you weren’t at a certain mile marker due to extreme heat. I made it past the cut. I recall thinking—can I really make the full way. And then recalled my training. The hard work. Asking to run with people who were faster than me. Like much faster—I barely could speak when I ran with them—they pushed me They made me better. They raised my bar. And reflecting back almost 14 years ago, I still keep that in mind. If you want to be better, surround yourself with people who are better. If you want to expand, be around people who challenge you If you want to uplevel, get out of your comfort zone If you want to be the very best version of yourself, we must recognize this is not a sprint, but a marathon. And as Ryan Holmes stated so well, “You can run a sprint or you can run a marathon but you can't sprint a marathon.” Go find your pack today—raise that bar and run YOUR race. 3:51 mins later I finished the race. And 14 years later still improving the pace daily…. #marathon #mindset #hardwork #run #leadership

Do you remember a recent post when I said the following? “You can start small and build momentum. (You’re likely not going to run a marathon today if you haven’t been running to build up your endurance.)” I had a small goal on my “2024 Goals List” that I’ve achieved every weekday since. It was easy once I started going after it, but it set the path to achieving the outcome I desired. You have to start somewhere! #getafterit #accountability #goals

I am so grateful to have such an amazing and caring team. Today, they made me a poster to cheer me on for Sunday’s Chicago Marathon!! ❤️ It’s essential to have people who cheer you on, who believe in your dreams, and who celebrate you! Surround yourself with those who bring out the best in you and make every moment brighter. In both marathons and in work, success isn’t just about the big wins; it’s about showing up every day, staying focused on the goal, and embracing the journey. #worklifebalance #growthmindset #dreambig #chicagomarathon

Been enviously watching all the posts and content from Sunday's London marathon. Well done to everyone and so many great achievements from friends and complete strangers. Been reflecting that a marathon has some incredible parallels for work life: i) A challenging target focusses the mind. That date isn't moving! Are you setting yourself / your team challenging immovable targets? As the saying goes, 'where there is a will, there is a way'. ii) Having supporters cheering you on is like rocket fuel! When did you last give someone a 'well done' or boost? Its incredible what a difference a few words can make to boost colleagues iii) Its amazing what you can achieve when you think you are beaten A marathon isn't easy. Its tough! Most people hit the wall at some point, yet keep going. When thing gets tough at work, keep going. Dig in, and you'll be surprised what you can achieve. PS: I've entered ballot for 2025 - hopefully 5th time lucky!!

What Does It Take To Run A Half Marathon? How many kilometers per week do we need to train? It’s a question we often hear, mostly from beginning runners or folks who have never run such a distance before. Similarly, people who have already done a half marathon may be curious about what it would take to be, like, ten minutes faster... The full blog post is available on: https://lnkd.in/e9pfuGVk
