Did you know there is a strong connection between your feet and your pelvic floor? It’s true! The way our foot strikes the ground influences the alignment and stability of our entire body, including the pelvis. High-impact activities like running or jumping, for example, can exacerbate issues and place excessive strain on the pelvic floor, leading to issues such as pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. Understanding how to mitigate this impact through proper foot mechanics is crucial for maintaining pelvic floor health, especially for athletes and active individuals. Our feet are the foundation of our body’s movement, and how they interact with the ground can have far-reaching effects on our pelvic floor health. The next time you lace up your shoes pay attention to how your body feels with every step. 🫶 #pelvichealth #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvicorganprolapse #incontinence #stressincontinence #postpartum #womenshealth #runningtips

Fun fact: the majority of pelvic floor dysfunction is due to the tissues of the pelvic floor being to TIGHT. Now you're scratching your head going, but "I leak." Try this posture. This should not cause pain. If it does, it's simply not your starting point. Don't worry, this isn't the only thing that's good for your pelvic floor. Note that I typically prop my pelvis on a small pillow. I also recommend a pillow under the head for most people. Things that don't look like they should be that hard. It's NOT HARD hun it's just that you haven't made your body bend like this since infancy. Use props if you have to reach your toes. You are going to have some feelings when you're doing this posture. It is both opening and closing, so it's a mix bag of calm and get me off this fuxking ride. That's very normal. Leave a comment about your experience with this posture, and don't forget to hit that FOLLOW button!! Pelvic Floor Workshop January 20th at the Movement Tutor Studio Space is very limited. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 = 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 Let’s face it: we spend the majority of our day sitting, often in a bad position slumped in a chair or hunched over a device. Whether it’s a laptop, phone, or tablet, this poor posture puts a lot of strain on our bodies, particularly our backs. And if you’re like most in corporate jobs, it’s a habit you've probably fallen into without even thinking about it. If you want to look good, feel good, and avoid chronic pain, it’s time to prioritise back exercises. Why? Because your back is the foundation of your posture and strength, here’s how it works: 1️⃣ Better Posture = Fewer Aches A strong back helps support proper posture, even after hours of sitting. When your muscles are strong, it’s easier to sit and stand with good alignment, which means less strain on your neck, shoulders, and spine. 2️⃣ Core Strength Isn’t Just Abs Most people focus on abs when thinking about core strength, but the muscles in your back are equally important. They stabilize your body, making everyday activities easier and preventing lower back pain. 3️⃣ Injury Prevention Let’s be real—if you’re sitting most of the day, your back is at risk. Strengthening your back not only helps balance your muscles, but it also keeps you injury-free. The stronger your back, the more resilient you are to strain. 4️⃣ Total Body Strength Your back isn’t just about looks or posture. A strong back is the foundation for your ability to perform simple daily tasks, such as carrying groceries, moving furniture or just standing for long periods and delivering a presentation. I'd even go so far as to say if you want to develop a body that looks powerful, exudes confidence and complements your overall gravitas, focusing on your back should be your number one priority. Most guys go for their mirror muscles, chest and biceps, as their exercise priority but really for all the reasons above, your back should get more of the love. PS. As a bonus, the chest supported row is one of my favourites for building your lats and upper back - and it's devastatingly simple; all you need is a pair of dumbbells and a bench: https://lnkd.in/egWkdK_j
