Takeaways from my conversation with Jason A. Martin. "It might be another company funding, but it's independent funding. It's not the state that's running venture capital." "Go visit how other places do things and bring those ideas back." ➡ California has an independent funding model for venture capital, while Ohio relies on state-run funding. ➡ Ohio needs to learn from other places and bring new ideas back to the state. ➡ There are challenges for artists and creatives in Ohio, including changing how arts and creative projects are viewed and supported. We are embarking on the renaissance of relevance. I was interviewing a Street Team candidate yesterday for Two|15 Collective and the words "purpose-driven" came up That's not all that surprising when you're discussing a role that requires one to have compassion for cannabis patients to truly buy in to what we're doing. What was surprising was the "throw away" nature of the term. The way the candidate said it, it was almost reduced to nothing more than an adjective. Then I started to realize that we're kinda just headed in that direction as a society. Many people don't seem to understand what "Purpose Driven" really means. For Two|15 Collective it isn't a marketing term. It's not a cool phrase to throw out so people will look our way. In fact, I rarely use the words "purpose driven" when talking about Two|15 because it doesn't even begin to describe us. We exist only because we feel a responsibility, as patrons of the cannabis community, to give back, to focus our efforts collaboratively on compassion, and to NEVER forget the spirit of the community. For the women’s empowerment program, an evaluator could engage with local community leaders or representatives from financial institutions to verify that women who participated in the program have successfully started businesses or taken on leadership roles. Alternatively, the evaluator could conduct site visits to these businesses, interacting with clients or community members to gather direct evidence of the program’s impact. In the tech innovation program, an evaluator might consult with investors or industry experts who can confirm whether a startup has secured funding or successfully launched a product in the market due to the program’s support. This direct engagement with knowledgeable stakeholders is essential for substantiating claims about the program’s effectiveness. 📌 Tip: Tailor your verification sampling to the scale and context of the intervention, ensuring a robust and credible evaluation that accurately reflects the outcomes achieved. Just wrapped up a busy 3-week trip to London (and it took me a week to recover and to write this post!). Here are some highlights and insights I’d love to share: ✔️ Participated in a trade mission organised by the Department for Business and Trade and Ministry of Justice UK. ✔️ Showcased BeSavvy Lawyer at LegalGeek’s Startup Alley. ✔️ Had great conversations with dozens of innovative law firms eager to adopt new tech to boost efficiency. Big plans for next year! ✔️ Met many talented people whose advice will help shape the next steps for BeSavvy. Can't wait to see what we can build together with some of them ✔️ Got my BRP that for some reason is only valid till the end of this year 🤨 Now that the business development sprint is done, I’m shifting focus to product development for the last five business weeks of the year. I love this approach — alternating between sprints for business and product development. It creates a sense of urgency and leads to big wins in a short time. This trip marks an exciting new phase for BeSavvy, and I can’t wait to share more soon!
