Checking email on my phone has always been a challenge... until now. I tried turning off all notifications (banners, sounds, and badges). I tried reshuffling my apps. I tried hiding it from the home screen. I tried to use the calendar widget instead. I tried grayscale. It all helps, but I still found my way to the app (often unconsciously). But now... this app has drastically changed my behaviour in only a week. It's called 'One Sec' (and it's free!) How it works on iPhone: 1. Set up an automation in Shortcuts for when Outlook is opened to activate 'One Sec'. 2. When Outlook is clicked, One Sec jumps in with a slow loading screen: "It's time to take a deep breath..." 3. If you've taken a deep breath and haven't already immediately closed the app, it then shows you some simple stats: a) how many attempts to open the app within 24 hours and b) when your last use was. It's simple and has worked exceptionally well for me. It's just enough friction that I need to be more present when I'm on my phone. We're all a bit lazy. We think we'll write this idea down later. Eventually, we lose. It leaks through the Notes app as well. Carrying paper and pen isn't always doable. So, most of us use the notes app on our phones as our 'idea basket.' 📝 But let's be real. Even opening that app feels like work sometimes, right? If its you? I was in the same pain. From the last few weeks, I adopted an idea, It's been the most successful for me so far. I thought to share it with you. Mobile phones are the most accessible devices we always carry. On mobile phone do you know what is most easiest feature to access? It's the camera on the phone. It works even without opening a lock screen. When You get something on your mind, immediately open your camera app, and start recording a short video about the idea. Done! ✅ Later, when you have time, jot it down in your notes app or on paper.
