🌎🌿 Happy Earth Day, Wilmington! 🌊✨ Today, we celebrate our beautiful planet and reflect on how we can make a positive impact right here in our community. Here are some eco-friendly tips from Essential to help you contribute to a healthier planet right from the comfort of your home: 1. Order Food from Your Local Farm: Support local farmers and reduce your carbon footprint by purchasing fresh produce from nearby farms. Not only does it support the local economy, but it also promotes sustainable agriculture practices. 2. Start Composting: Turn kitchen scraps and yard waste into nutrient-rich compost for your garden. Composting reduces waste sent to landfills and enriches soil health, creating a more sustainable gardening solution. 3. Open Windows in Place of AC: Take advantage of natural ventilation by opening windows to let in fresh air instead of relying on air conditioning. It reduces energy consumption and promotes indoor air quality. 4. Fix Any Leaky Faucets: A dripping faucet may seem insignificant, but it can waste gallons of water over time. Repairing leaks conserves water and reduces utility bills. 5. Turn Down Your Water Heater: Lowering the temperature on your water heater by a few degrees can save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with heating water. 6. Give Your Appliances a Break: Unplug electronics and appliances when not in use to save energy and reduce standby power consumption. It's an easy way to conserve energy and lower electricity bills. 7. Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle: Embrace the mantra of "reduce, reuse, recycle" by minimizing waste, repurposing items when possible, and recycling materials to divert them from landfills. By incorporating these simple practices into your daily routine, you can make a big difference for the planet and future generations. Let's work together to protect and preserve our beautiful Earth! 🌎💚 #EarthDay #WilmingtonNC #SustainableLiving 🌱🌊

Water is precious - we know that! But are we aware of how much we pour into keeping lawns lush year-round? No, right? In fact, that has never been a matter of concern as we continue to live in ignorance. So, here's a not-so-comfortable truth: Maintaining a polished, refined look of lawns requires vast quantities of water and high maintenance, yet provides minimal ecological benefits. In that case, what could be the possible alternative? Redefining beauty, one such concept is Xeriscaping! It's a sustainable landscaping approach that aims to conserve water by prioritizing drought-resistant plants and native flora, reducing the need for irrigation. Why Shift to Xeriscaping? 1️⃣ Maintenance of a conventional lawn requires around 0.62 gallons of water per square foot per week to maintain the green look. Xeriscaping can cut down on this by an impressive 50-75%, making it ideal for regions where water is truly scarce. 2️⃣ Xeriscaped gardens attract biodiversity like bees, butterflies, and birds, helping local ecosystems thrive. 3️⃣ Less water means less mowing and a reduced need for fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides, contributing to a healthier environment. 4️⃣ Xeriscaping not only benefits the planet but also adds a charm to properties, appealing to eco-conscious buyers and homeowners alike. 5️⃣ While upfront investment might be required, xeriscaping saves on water bills and maintenance costs, proving effective in the long run. Remember, a switch to xeriscaping isn’t about sacrificing aesthetics. It’s a commitment to sustainable living. Whether you’re a homeowner, developer, or someone simply exploring sustainable options, look no further than xeriscaping. It's a promising development in the landscape domain! #waterconservation #xeriscaping #sustainabilitywriter #ecofriendlylandscapes #redefiningbeeauty

Check the last Stiga Sustainability report. Driving the electric transition is at the core of everything we do at Stiga. For the consumers it means using less energy and reducing pollution, emissions and noise… Nice 😊 isn’t it? #StigaGardenCare #StigaSustainability
In 2023 we promoted our battery and electric powered garden tools from mowers to handheld tools that can be used in gardens of all sizes. This is in support of one of our most important projects: a transition to more sustainable products. As we design electric and battery-powered products with sustainability in mind, we also consider the other benefits we can bring to consumers, such as greener and quieter tools that use less energy and reduce pollution, emissions and the need for excessive fertiliser. The percentage of electric and battery-powered projects sold in 2023 reached 24% of overall sales, and we have more to do to reach our goal of 28% in 2024. Along with investing more than three-quarters of our R&D budget in these products, we are also planning targeted incentives and promotions to drive sales.
