We Own Comfort... The word “Comfort” is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as 1: to give strength and hope to 2: to ease the grief or trouble of. As these are good definitions to explain what Comfort is to some extent, but it really doesn’t provide the true essence. Hence I'd like to dive deeper into the notion of Comfort. Firstly, Comfort is a feeling. I like to simply equate comfort with feeling good, or a positive sensation. It is sometimes elusive to us but it is a feeling, a state of being if you will, that all human beings strive for on some level. When we are not feeling good something in us says, “Hey, I want to feel good.” This happens at a conscious and subconscious level. We immediately look to figure out how to get into a state of equilibrium. This can be as simple as just re-arranging how we are sitting in a chair or as complex as experiencing the death of a loved one. We experience comfort in different ways. Sometimes we look for it in food. The simple taste of what we can call comfort food can help us feel good. There is the experience of listening to music. Whether at home, in the car, or going to a concert, music finds its way to bring us comfort. Then there are activities we engage in because they bring us a positive sensation. It could be exercising; getting that runner’s high. It could be playing golf and that feeling one gets from hitting the perfect golf shot (keeps us coming back for more). It could be the exhilarating feeling when skiing down a hill, or the calmness from a great yoga stretch or pose. Other experiences like traveling, sightseeing, or simply relaxing can do the comfort trick as well. Lastly, there is clothing. Something that covers us, hits our skin and has a huge opportunity to bring a sense of comfort to people. From the fabric, to the fit, and type of garment, comfort plays a big part in what we wear and why. The Sportiqe brand embraces the notion of comfort. As consumers are increasingly engaging with beauty products and services to not only look good but also feel good, a new definition of beauty is reshaping the market with the lines between #beauty and #wellness expected to continue blurring. Today’s $1.5 trillion global wellness industry is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of as much as 10 percent to 2027, according to recent McKinsey research. Traditional beauty players need a crystal-clear understanding of how expansion into wellness-inspired products can align with their expertise as well as their consumers’ needs and interests. The beauty industry is always adapting to evolving trends and consumer demands. Brands that recognise the significance of staying ahead and introducing new products that customers are actively looking for are well-positioned to thrive in this changing landscape. In today’s market, we’re seeing more and more pioneering products that seek to recreate the spa experience. From LED face masks to at-home micro-needling devices, it’s easier than ever to get professional-level results at home. But these products often come at a high price, and self-care shouldn’t be just for a select few. While innovation drives the industry, making self-care accessible is equally important.
