Sure, if you’re not assessing for tolerance first, or they have not been in therapy to become familiar with their inner landscape.This is what we’re finding with M109 in Oregon. Without assessing tolerance, the client will generally ask for too much, rather than risking taking too little. Then you have what OPS facilitators call, a “runner.” Their defense mechanisms are not prepared to let go, leading them into a bad trip where they run from the facilitation room and out of the building. We assess for tolerance before their journey, and we have never had a runner or a bad trip.
Psychedelic experiences have real risks in recreational settings and adverse events can and do occur even in research and clinical contexts. While this information was primary for decades, the press around the positive potential of psychedelics in recent years leads us to issue this reminder.
