One common hesitation for accessing talent in West Africa is internet connectivity and infrastructure limitations. Though challenges remain, and the region has not overcome these problems, teams of software developers work from modern facilities with robust internet (thank you ⭐ 🛰) and power backups, ensuring seamless operations and high productivity. #SoftwareDevelopment #GlobalCollaboration #WestAfricanTech #RemoteWork

What other Africa leaders should emulate
Chinese company Huawei, to hire & train over 5,000 Burkina Faso youths for a 5-year project without Chinese labour or workers. Only Burkina Faso Workers will be engaged to build the Telecom Infrastructure. It’s a positive on many fronts, not the least, the psychological boost of the worker, not having to report to a below average foreign supervisor. It will also boost the appetite for STEM in the educational sector. While this is a great move, the Huawei will still own the IP. To close the loop, Captain Traore needs to start contemplating a strategy for wholesale technology transfer. More important, upon completion, Burkina Faso needs to proceed with caution and employ competent third parties to perform thorough pre-commissioning inspection to avoid a repeat of the African Union (AU) debacle which I dub “The Chinese Gift”. China, which also paid and built the computer network at the AU, allegedly inserted a backdoor that allowed it to transfer data. The hack wasn’t detected until Jan. 2017 when technicians noticed that between midnight and 2 am every night, there was a peak in data usage even though the building was empty. After investigating, it was found that the continental organization’s confidential data was being copied on to servers in Shanghai since 2012 (5 years). #TATHOTS #Afriphile vc - @africathenotsodarkcontinent

Internet Connectivity... Recently, a friend saw my stash of MiFi and was like why the different networks? So I explained to her how they came about not, that I intentionally bought them, but since I started working remotely, I just needed any good network that had internet connectivity to enable me do my job. Working remotely necessitates having a stable internet network in Nigeria ,especially for days when any of the internet service providers have poor connection without warning , when such happens, you swap to the next available great network. It's an investment for remote work except you get a hub around where the internet speed is superfast or your office provides one for you to work with. Who's your favorite network provider? #remotework
