A neuroscientist explaining how the brain and body process emotions. This should be basic knowledge nowadays. We often observe that people don’t understand what we’re doing as a company and what our products can do for our customers, not because they don’t care, but because they don’t have the background knowledge. Neuroscience has progressed tremendously in the past few decades, and it is time this knowledge became common knowledge. Here is an easy to digest, very informative video. Watch it and learn. For yourself, for your family and friends, for your coworkers. https://lnkd.in/g8A4HTDB

Everything we do involves memories, traces of past experiences in our nervous system. They may be events, faces of friends, or words we speak and recognise. Many such memories require precise and reliable timing - for example, to coordinate vocal cords - and they involve thousands of neurons that are connected in complex patterns. New memories are presumably inscribed by changes in these patterns. As a neuroscientist, my first wonder is how can we control these memories? How to get the full power to remember the events/faces we want and completely erase from scratch the things we don’t want?

We sometimes talk about "the brain" as if there's only one of them, but there's tremendous diversity in nervous systems between species, and even between individuals. On this episode of Unpopular Neuroscience Katie and Patrick discuss some of the most interesting brains they've encountered in the neuroscience literature and their own research careers. Learn more about the radically different brains, and surprisingly consistent behavior of jumping spiders, orcas, and french white-collar workers.
All the brain's I've loved before.
