Who here doesn’t always notice their small victories in remote work? Let’s be honest: when no one sees how hard we’re working, it’s easy to overlook our achievements. But celebrating those wins is so important for staying motivated. Today, I finished a project a day ahead of schedule. It’s a small thing, but I decided to treat myself to a visit to my favorite coffee shop. ☕ What about you? What wins have you had this week? Even something like “finally set up my VPN” or “wrote 100 words of my resume” counts. Share below — let’s cheer each other on!

✨ 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙋𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙊𝙛𝙛! I have always had a LinkedIn account, but it was barely active. That changed in July 2024 when I saw Alice Awobite-Joshua post on Instagram about remote work, it caught my attention immediately. I started following her and soaking up everything she shared about transitioning into remote work. By September 2024, something clicked. I decided it was time to take action. I joined her first-ever LinkedIn Power Up Challenge, and although I started with just 𝟭𝟳𝟰 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀, today I’m thrilled to celebrate crossing 𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬+ 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 and counting! 🎉 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗜 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲? By the look of the posts on my feed, it seems like LinkedIn is celebrating Remote-Work-Day/Week. My two cents? As a working mother, being able to work remotely is a blessing. I loved being able to skip commuting and spending that time being more productive. Creating strong collegial relationships is certainly possible and I've gained friends for life - but meeting them face-to-face propelled the friendship 100x. Interpersonal communication has a very distinct aspect (you can also say it is the added value of non-verbal communication), that makes you "get" the person in front of you so much faster, and better. In a smaller startup, the water cooler conversations are crucial. Company culture is still being shaped, heck, the ICP is still being shaped 😅 No strong point in this post, except to say I miss my remote friends 💛

I want to mentor someone 1:1 to help them find and land remote work. This is a paid mentorship opportunity. I’ve interviewed a few folks. But I’m still taking calls. Here’s some info about the mentorship: - I’ll take you (and only you) on for a full month - We’ll set up weekly strategy/accountability calls - I’ll help with anything you need (look for work, apply, interview, optimize your CV or LI profile, prepare test work, etc.) - You can tap into my network of professionals and experts - You’ll get forever access to my Slack group with past mentees And lots more. Completely tailored to whatever you need. If you’re seriously interested, DM me. I look forward to it! 💛 (PS: Folks from less developed countries qualify for significant financial aid)

I hate to admit it, but I agonize over writing any sort of biographical or autobiographical content ("about me" copy, speaker introductions, teammate bios, etc.). I want to make the person I'm writing about feel seen and appreciated by showcasing what makes them unique. And that can be difficult to achieve. Thankfully, when it comes to introducing new employees, InCommon takes some of that pressure off—without sacrificing the personalization that each new hire deserves. ✅ My teammates get a warm welcome that showcases some of their unique interests and experiences ✅ I can create and share that message with a simple Slack command It's a major win-win in my book.
Every new hire is a real person with unique stories, interests, and hidden talents waiting to be discovered. What if introducing a new teammate could spark genuine conversations and build real connections? InCommon helps teams go beyond the standard "Welcome, Lauren!" by showing colleagues some of what makes them unique—whether it's a love for rock climbing, speaking Spanish, or an obsession with vintage sci-fi. An introduction that doesn't just share a new name and title, but opens doors to meaningful workplace relationships. #onboarding #humanconnection #workplaceculture

Earlier this year I started to look at my numbers here on LinkedIn, because I had a goal I wanted to achieve. 🌟 The goal was to be considered a Top Voice in the Professional Training and Coaching industry. 🥹 Now matter how consistent I was in sharing valuable content, and adding my perspective in collaborative articles, I was never able to get higher than being ranked in the top 8%. But in order to be considered a Top Voice you have to be in the top 5%. 😊 So I gave up on that goal. I started to just share what I felt like sharing, and when I felt like sharing, with the only goal of being professional with my content, and a life long learner that likes to share and gain knowledge. 😯 I now see some mistakes I made, so I might set this goal for myself again for 2025. 🫵 But what I have found interesting though is that my top performing posts in the year of 2024 are posts where I share something about myself as a professional and how I practice strong Self-Leadership. Also if I include pictures of myself, which I found very surprising. 💖 So being professional and authentic, plus personal, might be the secret recipe here. My top performing posts in 2024: 1️⃣ 9.949 impressions, 455 reactions and 90 comments, sharing about new beginnings, my new job at EFTA: https://lnkd.in/e7BHy_GZ 2️⃣ 4.411 impressions, 55 reactions and 7 comments, sharing about my daily habits, to enhance performance and resilience: https://lnkd.in/egyHEqjM 3️⃣ 3.379 impressions, 58 reactions and 0 comments, reflecting on recent reading on work, especially on workplace-culture and productivity: https://lnkd.in/ezn2_X8h 4️⃣ 3.297 impressions, 48 reactions and 4 comments, sharing about my remote working and what I had been working on that week, plus my thoughts on RTO and future of remote working: https://lnkd.in/esXVw2Hg 5️⃣ 3.247 impressions, 121 reactions and 14 comments, reflecting on my lessons and experiences, professionally and personally, as I celebrated 1 year working for EFTA: https://lnkd.in/eFZRhVpr 😁 And as I´m writing this I see that I have 4.469 followers here on LinkedIn. 🥇 Maybe I will not earn the Top Voice badge but at least I will be sharing content on what I´m learning, how I see the future of work and how Self-Leadership is the key to 360° Success, in work and life. ❤️ Thanks for a great year of 2024. The attached picture is from a recent afternoon walk by the sea, close to my home in Reykjavik, Iceland, where one of my favorite sculptures, The Sun Voyager, is located.

Going to show my age a little bit on this one, but it is sort of wild to retrospectively think about how much work culture, specifically, the expectations of accessibility have evolved in just a couple of decades. First job I ever had in high school my employer could reach me a few ways: 1) In-person 2) Call my house phone (landline) 3) Page me (again, showing my age) 4) Carrier pigeons. My first real job after college my accessibility expanded slightly to be: 1) In-person 2) Cell phone 3) Email 4) Instant Messaging platforms (BBM) 5) MySpace 🙃 Fast forward to 2024 and my current role(s) and the expectations of where I try to be accessible to my employer and clients: 1) In-Person 2) Cell phone (text, call, facetime, and everything in between) 3) Email (multiple inboxes) 4) Collaborative Team Tools (Miro, Slack, Teams, etc) 5) Project Management platforms (Monday, Shortcut, Asana) 6) Time-tracking platforms 7) Google Suite (collaborative documents and platforms) 8) Video Calls (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) 9) Social Media platforms I'm not complaining necessarily, as these platforms and channels have provided a very flexible working environment for me. However, I think it is useful when examining productivity and employee well-being. It is hard to create focus time and feel like there is enough time in the day when you're consistently monitoring 4,558 forms of communication. #EmployeeWellBeing #CommunicationOverload #Collaboration #AccessibilityGoneWild #HowDoYouCommunicate
