Yesterday, I finally started working at TalentBee 🐝💤 From my first conversation with Saara and Samuli (almost 2 years ago), where I learned about their mission to create the best workplace for Talent Acquisition professionals, 𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐲. That's why my first day at Talentbee felt somewhat surreal. I know no job is perfect. However, right now, Talentbee feels like the right match for me, with all its pros and cons. 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐈 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐁𝐞𝐞? ✅ The Bees - Jesse, Nea, Saara, Sami, Samuli & Siiri 🐝💛 🍯 I got the good vibe that this team is truly courageous and skilled. 🍯 I believe in what they are doing, and I want to learn from people who truly inspire and impress me. ✅ I thrive in the innovative, fast-paced, dynamic, and flat hierarchical environment that startups typically offer, characterized by bold risk-taking and a willingness to do things differently. ✅ 4️⃣-day workweek. Fridays are off. ✅ I can work wherever I want within the EU. ✅ They made an effort to bring me on board. 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳, 𝘐 𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘫𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘉𝘦𝘦. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐛𝐞𝐞? ❌ Honestly, my limited proficiency in English makes me nervous about working in English more than I've been used to. ❌ The company doesn't have an office (yet). ❌ I've learned that there are always inherent risks and challenges when working in a startup. ❌ Am I certain about changing jobs, especially after just buying an apartment with a mortgage and considering the new job's 6-month trial period? 🎓 Reflecting on My First Year Post-College: As I mark one year since graduating and six months into my role as a Marketing Associate at Digiday. Here are some lessons I’ve learned that might resonate with others navigating the early stages of their careers: 1. Embrace Mistakes as Learning Opportunities 🌟 I’ve always strived for perfection and dreaded making mistakes, but I’ve come to realize that mistakes are an essential part of growth. It's inevitable, and often the fastest way to learn. 2. Finding the Right Job Takes Time ⏳ It took me six months to find a role that felt like the right fit. I’ve learned that it’s okay to be selective and hold out for opportunities that align with your goals and values. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve found at Digiday and the alignment it has brought to my career aspirations. 3. Remote Work Can Foster Strong Connections 🌐 Working remotely can sometimes feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. I’m fortunate to be part of a team where everyone is incredibly kind and welcoming. Our HR team (aka Andrea Sontz) works hard to keep us connected through monthly calls, weekly icebreaker chats, and other initiatives. Finding the right company and people can make remote work a fulfilling and engaging experience. 4. Ask Questions 🤔 Don’t hesitate to ask questions—there’s no such thing as a dumb question. You’re surrounded by experienced people who have valuable insights to share. Seeking clarity not only helps you do your job better but also shows your eagerness to learn and grow. 5. Celebrate Small Wins 🏆 Amidst the daily tasks, it’s easy to overlook small victories. At Digiday, we use Nectar to recognize and celebrate achievements.
