Very troublesome. "LinkedIn has been hit by a rise in sophisticated recruitment #scams, as fraudsters seek to take advantage of the trend towards #remote working and widespread job cuts across the tech sector. Jobseekers on the world’s largest professional network are being defrauded out of money after taking part in fake recruitment processes set up by scammers who pose as employers, before obtaining personal and financial information." https://lnkd.in/gGkZiSWD #linkedin #jobseekers #recruitment #remoteworking

Beware of the Latest Online Job Scam: A new wave of scams is hitting Facebook, with fake recruiters offering remote work positions to unsuspecting users. These scammers, masquerading as legitimate recruiters, are luring individuals with the promise of work-from-home opportunities. Their ultimate goal? To steal personal data and banking credentials. The scam works like this: Attackers impersonate recruiters and offer seemingly legitimate job contracts. Once they've gained trust, they request personal information, government-issued IDs and even ask victims to cash checks to buy computers and software for their new 'job'. To stay safe, always verify job offers by checking the company's official website and contacting them directly. Be skeptical of unsolicited job offers, especially those requiring you to install apps or share personal information. Remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. 20+ years ago, when I first started looking to work from home, I was excited but quickly let down by all the scammers out there. They were ready to take my money without giving anything in return. It made me angry, and that anger pushed me to start digging into which companies were actually legit for remote work. Today, these scammers are even sneakier and more ruthless. They’re not just hanging out on random websites anymore—they’re on LinkedIn, pretending to be recruiters from big-name companies. And they’re not just after your money; they’re out to steal your identity and mess up your life. It might seem like there’s no way to stop these people, but you can protect yourself. Learn what these scammers are after, why people fall for their tricks, and how to avoid getting tangled up in their scams. Have you ever been approached by a bogus recruiter, or applied for a fake job ad? What happened? P.S. Include in your comments if you'd like my free checklist on identifying scams/scammers! 🚨 Beware of Remote Job Scams on LinkedIn: Protect Yourself! 🚨 LinkedIn is a powerful platform for professionals, but scammers posing as HRs are targeting job seekers. Be cautious of remote job offers that sound too good to be true. Here’s how to spot and avoid them: 1. Check the Company Website – Use Whois.com to verify the domain registration date. New or recently registered domains can be a red flag for fraud. 2. Never Pay for a Job – Legitimate companies will never ask for payments for job placements, laptops, or anything else. If they ask for money upfront, it’s likely a scam. 3. Be Skeptical of Promises – Offers of work-from-home jobs with incentives like free laptops in exchange for a small fee are often tricks. Always research before accepting such offers. Stay safe, protect your information, and always verify before trusting! #JobSeekersBeware #RemoteJobScam #JobHuntingTips #LinkedInFraud #HRScamAlert #WorkFromHomeSafety #StayVigilant #JobSearchSecurity #ProtectYourCareer #AvoidScams #JobSeekerSafety #EmploymentScamAwareness 😊

RoseComm® spent the last week helping a large client navigate a #remotework #scam, which started right here on LinkedIn. Scammers are capitalizing on the growth of work-from-home opportunities and businesses are reportedly losing about ~$2 billion annually. As individuals, we should beware of anyone sending us links that look suspicious. The day before we found out what happened to our client, I had received a link from one of my connections that could have been legit, but seemed out of character. I checked in with her via email and, sure enough, her LinkedIn was hacked. We should also do our homework on any job offers made via social media messaging apps or emails using alternative domain names (the difference can be slight!). As businesses, we need to make sure our employees know about these #scams and take precautions to avoid inadvertently giving someone access to their social profiles. We also need to be on high alert and prepared to communicate with internal and external audiences as soon as we learn our organization is being impersonated. Not only will proactive #communication minimize the number of people who fall victim to the scam, but it will also protect your employer #brand in the long run.
