Many older workers are opting for remote jobs, allowing them to pursue second-act careers or relocate without leaving their jobs behind. Employers are also benefiting by retaining valuable team members who might otherwise retire early. With no geographical limits, remote work is redefining the concept of retirement! 💪 . . . . #remotework #workfromhome #digitalnomad #remotejobs #worklifebalance #flexiblework #remoteteam #virtualwork #careerchange #jobsearch #retirementplans #seniorworkers

Vacation season is here, but not everyone can take a break. Many people have limited PTO options and are stuck in an office. But there’s hope. 🩵 Some employers offer fully remote jobs with flexible PTO policies. According to @forbes, companies like Expedia and Olark even provide financial incentives for taking time off, making it easier to relax and recharge. ✨ With remote work, you can move to where you want, put down roots, and buy a home. ✨ As a mortgage loan officer, I can help you plan how to make this possible. Prioritize your well-being and find an employer who values work-life balance. Your dream job—and home—might be closer than you think. #remotework #homebuying #realestate #relocation

Job flexibility comes in many forms, it’s not simply WFH or working less than 5 days per week. Some examples include: - Flexible start and finish times - Compressed hours (working more hours over fewer days) - Changing from full-time to part-time or casual work - Job sharing - Flexible rostering - Working from home or another location - ‘Purchasing’ extra paid leave unpaid leave - Taking rostered days off as 2 half days - Time off in lieu - Flexitime (allowing you to ‘bank’ extra hours which are then exchanged for time off) - Gradual increase or decrease in work hours /days (for example, after parental leave, or as an employee transitions to retirement. I opted for this option when returning from mat leave and it was a blessing).

WORKING HARD OR HARDLY WORKING - LATER RETIREMENT FOR OFFICE PERSONNEL "SITTING AT THEIR DESK" In the discussion about the retirement age in Germany, the #Spiegel quotes the head of the employers' organization of the metal industry: "A factory worker who works hard will not be able to work until he is 70 years old. However, someone sitting in the office will be able to work until he is 70 years old." ▶ As a remote work evangelist, I must defend the office and knowledge workers! While I agree that physically demanding jobs cannot be done until a high age is reached, I am concerned about the #wording in the recent discussion. ▶ It is not only the factory workers who work hard! What about #office and #remote workers? We see stress, burn-out, deadlines, coping with repetitive, monotonous work, dealing with changes, keeping up with latest development, cognitive challenges. I work in a remote-first company. Everyone is a knowledge worker. I have no doubt that everyone works hard. In a nutshell: 1️⃣ Factory work and office work are different. Both can be "hard". 2️⃣ The argument that only factory workers work hard implies that office workers don't. 3️⃣ The term "sitting in the office" might even imply that those guys are hardly working. Our demographics force us to amend our pension schemes. The discussion must continue. Link to the article (in German) in the comments.
