New research by the American Staffing Association suggests that while the older generation of Americans may not be the most tech-savvy, they’re actually the demographic that most prefers to work from home full-time. It’s an unexpected finding when you think about the stereotypical belief that older Americans are less likely to be interested in technology and figuring out how it works, while younger Americans — most of whom grew up using technology — are far more advanced. 👉 https://lnkd.in/d668_fW6 . . . . #RemoteWorkLife #GenZatWork #BoomersWorking #USARemoteJobs #DigitalNomadLife #GenZProfessionals #BoomerWorkforce #USARemoteWork #RemoteWorkCulture #GenZCareers #BoomerRemoteJobs #USAGenZ #RemoteWorkTrends #GenZWorkforce #BoomerProfessionals #USABabyBoomers #RemoteWorkRevolution #GenZRemoteJobs #BoomerGeneration #USARemoteOpportunities

5 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝 According to LinkedIn, generational stereotypes often infiltrate the workplace, with older workers frequently facing age discrimination despite comprising a significant portion of the labor force. Debunking common myths about older workers is essential for fostering an equitable workplace environment and promoting talent acquisition based on skills rather than age-based biases. Myths Debunked: ✅ Lack of Creativity: Contrary to the belief that creativity is exclusively associated with youth, research indicates that different forms of creativity can develop at various stages of one's career. ✅ Grumpiness: Older individuals tend to be happier and more satisfied with their jobs compared to younger workers. ✅ Productivity Decline: Older workers exhibit comparable productivity levels to younger counterparts and often contribute significantly to company success. Incapability with Technology: Older workers are often adept at learning and adapting to new technologies, challenging the stereotype of their resistance to tech. ✅ Expense: While hiring older workers may involve slightly higher labor costs, the benefits of their experience, retention rates, and higher engagement levels can lead to improved business outcomes. Redefining perceptions about older workers and recognizing their valuable contributions can lead to a more inclusive and productive work environment, ultimately benefiting both employees and employers alike. STAFF PICK! 📖 Our team member, Zainub Rakla Ruane (she/her), shares a thought piece that she believes adds perspective to the diversity, equity and inclusion conversation. "[''40% of mothers with young children say that if they lose their flexible schedules they’ll have to quit their jobs'] really hit home for me. Flexibility and the ability to do work on our own terms is so important for mothers and caregivers. There is a perception that mothers are less motivated to be in the workforce than before the pandemic, but I think they are more motivated than ever because flexible and remote work is real possibility now a days. Employers who overlook that are missing out on an amazing pool of talent." I’ve become very intrigued by and supportive of the 4 day work week exploration/pilot testing in the States. Numbers of countries and hundreds upon hundreds of companies/organizations are proving that the 4 day/32 hour work week is successful. I might be off however, I believe 400+ companies have transitioned successfully to this new model across the US thus far. From increased productivity and revenue to improved mental health, there is no doubt that the future of business is evolving before us right now. Just look at the numbers of solopreneurs launching with immense value to offer outside of their fulltime careers! The standard 40 hour week, that was set nearly 100 years ago, just might continue to evolve with the times, in certain types of work cultures, industries, etc… with a new standard that still values productivity, but with peace of mind and mental health prioritized as core pillars as well. Shoutout to Phil McParlane @ 4 Day Week (4dayweek.io) for leading the movement across the globe! What’s your take on the standard work week potentially evolving over time? #workweek #4dayworkweek #mentalhealth #peaceofmind #productivity #leadership #corporateamerica #business #businesstransformation #humanresources #lifestyle #3dayweekend #careers #future #unitedstates

Countries around the world are experiencing the beginnings of demographic shifts caused by an ageing population. 👴👵 For the first time in recorded history, there are now more elderly people than young children on the planet. The UN estimates that by 2050, one in six people will be over the age of 65, up from one in 11 in 2019. Older workers gain a boost in motivation when younger workers seek knowledge from them, a study from the University of Cologne has found. How can this information about collaboration be utilised to help workplaces adapt in the face of increasingly aged workforces? 🤔 As populations age, governments are legislating against ageist hiring practices, to ensure that the workforce is not denuded in the future. The new laws are needed as employers are traditionally wary of hiring older workers, despite their evident experience. With demographic trends meaning that workforces are ageing, and technological change ever swifter, companies will need to figure out ways to forge meaningful intergenerational collaboration. There needs to be an exchange of skills and information regardless of age. When the experience of an older worker meets the tech-savviness of a younger co-worker, collaboration between older and younger employees can work techno-magical wonders. Generation Z, popularly known as Gen Z, Gen Zers, or Zoomers, are currently aged between 23 and 28 years and make up a larger chunk of the workforce compared to Baby Boomers. According to the World Economic Forum, 27% of global workers will come from this age group by 2025. So, how can employers attract and retain Gen Z employees? Recruiting Zoomers needs a slightly different approach in comparison with the older generation, as they have a different set of needs. The following are the things that matter most in workplaces to Gen Zers: 🔷 Inclusive culture 🔷 Digitalization 🔷 Workplaces that allow innovation and creativity Find more here: https://bit.ly/4asC1lx #GenerationZAttraction #GenZAttraction #ZoomerAttraction

"How can we help?" This is the question we pose to mothers in Idaho and beyond. The answers have been pretty simple. But that doesn't mean they're effortless. 🤝 Moms need more ME-time (mental and emotional time). 🤝 Moms need more support caring for their children. 🤝 Moms need their voices heard AND their perspective understood. 🤝 Moms need more flexibility in their workplaces to support family wellbeing. 💚 Moms need recognition that they are MOMS—the most important part of who they are. We're honored to be supporting moms with each of these needs. #momwellbeing
In Idaho, only 21% of working mothers who wish they had more help or support in their daily lives say they feel comfortable asking for help when they need it. Proactively offering assistance and ensuring that requests for help are met with consideration and compassion can reduce unmet needs for help and show respect and value for mothers at work. National data indicate that only 39% of women strongly agree that their organization provides the flexibility needed to manage child care responsibilities. Organizations offering this flexibility have employees who are nearly three times as likely to be engaged, about half as likely to be burned out, and 30% less likely to be actively looking or watching for another job opportunity than organizations that do not have flexibility. Flexible work policies like remote or hybrid options, flextime, and similar solutions for helping adapt work schedules to family demands are vital for working mothers. Yet beyond creating these policies, organizations must foster a work culture that truly supports using those opportunities by encouraging empathy and responsiveness to working mothers’ needs.
