Amidst much controversy and debate, the new Data Protection Act, 2023 is anticipated to be enforced soon. The first of its kind for India, the Act is certain to significantly impact multiple facets such as trading, usage, collection and processing vis-a-vis the data commodity. In the article below, we have attempted to map out some of the obligations data fiduciaries shall be bound by and the larger impact of the Act on them.
