Today's the day to download the 2024 edition of The Giving Report! This year's report focuses on the downward trends in giving, the role of social disconnection in giving, and how charities will fare in a time of increasing crises, like climate change, when fewer people give each year. Download the report here: https://lnkd.in/giDYDVDs Key findings from the report include: -17.7% Canadians gave in 2021: This is a decline in the number of Canadians giving from 2013 to 2021. -57% of charities are unable to meet current levels of demand, which speaks to the gaps between the growing challenges and charities' abilities to provide support. -80% of those with many close friends donate, while just over half of those with very few close friends donate. -32% of Canadians say climate change or protecting our environment is a top cause for them, but only 1.5 percent of donations made through CanadaHelps are directed to environmental charities. P.S. There is still time to register for our webinar that will highlight the main findings of The Giving Report. Join us at 1:00 p.m. EST today! https://lnkd.in/gVWbiSWP Thank you to our partners at Environics Analytics and Imagine Canada.

In our Climate Positive Plan we set a target for ‘all our clients’ but quickly realised the reality of how different sectors were responding to the climate crisis. While all the businesses we work for have publicly committed to tackling their emissions – and increasingly have science-based targets – this was not the case for the not-for-profit sector. Our membership organisation clients have small teams dedicated to helping their members improve sustainability and most of our charity clients are focused on directly achieving their charitable objectives, which became even more challenging during the pandemic. We committed our time to increasing awareness in the charity sector and finished with 82% of clients with GHG emission reduction targets in place, rather than the target 100%. More on what we've learnt and how we've adapted our strategy over the last 3 years: https://bit.ly/3UDSDBe #Adaptation #ActiveAdaptation #RaceToZero #GHGemissions #ScienceBasedTargets #SBTi #TacklingEmissions #NotForProfit #BusinessAsAForceForGood #BCorp

After hundreds of conversations with investors and family offices, what fact about conservation funding shocked almost each and every one of them? The portion of charitable donations in the US that goes towards protecting and regenerating nature, the oceans, forests and food systems that we kinda need to survive… When I ask how much they’d guess it is, I hear, 20%, 30%, 50%…. It’s less than 2% Less than 2% of charitable donations in 2020 went towards the systems that uphold 50% of the global economy, as well as doing helpful stuff like feed us, fight climate change and provide new medicines. This is why we have to make nature investable. Yes we have to scale philanthropy, but alone philanthropy will never close the $830billion nature finance gap. That’s why Nature2 is so focused on accelerating nature based investing, and as a result we’ve already seen way more appetite for conservation philanthropy, because when donors realize that gap they want to be a part of closing it. What portion of donations would you have guessed went towards #conservation? #nature2 #naturefinance #conservationfinance
