Children are special – let’s celebrate their unique characteristics. Children’s Day, initially known as Rose Day in the UK, was started by #DrCharlesLeonard in 1857. Then it was established in 1954 as Universal #ChildrensDay and celebrated in Nov’ ever since to promote international togetherness and improving children's welfare. This year the theme for children’s day is, “Inclusion for Every child”. It means that every child belonging to any #society, community or nationality is entitled to #equalrights. With the idea of inclusion, we have more chances to work collaboratively for the welfare of our kids. What can we do to raise awareness of this day and its theme? Educational institutions, electronic and all social media platforms can play an important role in Children’s Day Celebrations. They can #educatechildren and parents and society as a whole to the basic rights of children: the right to education, the right to health, the right to play, and the right to family life. The blue colour is the symbol for children’s rights on Children’s Day. You can show your support by turning blue on 20th November. World Children’s Day Activities in School: Make children aware about its importance & history in assembly. Light up the school and landmark buildings in blue Wear a blue dress on this special day Wear a blue ribbon around your wrist Wear a blue cap on this day Educate children about their rights Parents AND Teachers can contribute to these future builders by playing an active role in their child’s #physicalandmental wellbeing; improving #discipline with a positive attitude and considering their feelings. This attitude makes them relaxed and you develop a strong relationship with them. Impart #knowledge on diet and nutrition which will enhance the kids’ physical and mental performance. The creation or closure of a child care facility can have a huge ripple effect on an entire local community. Families' ability to work and provide for their families, the success of local businesses, and economic development efforts are all impacted by child care. Child Development Resources! Village is thrilled to launch our Child Development Campaign for families and services. The campaign was developed in response to a need identified by the community through our extensive engagement across the early years sector. Last year, Village and partner organisations designed a Child Development Poster on developmental milestones and health checks, referring to the ACT Health Bluebook. The poster was widely shared across our network and received an overwhelming response. Building on this evident need, we are excited to share a series of 8 videos and accompanying flyers, each representing the developmental milestones outlined in the Child Development Poster. Paragraph 1: The Education Committee of the UK's House of Commons has created an inquiry into the Government's Children's Social Care Green Paper and its strategy to improve outcomes for children. The inquiry is examining the plans for reforming the Children's Social Care system, the cost and scope of the strategy, and targets for improving outcomes for the long-term. Paragraph 2: The inquiry will provide an important opportunity to examine the adequacy of the policies proposed in the Green Paper and consider the range of possible reforms- from the approaches to providing better services for children currently in care to the structures of the systems that guardians them. It is hoped that these reforms will provide children in care with the opportunity of a brighter future and positive outcomes in the long term. Paragraph 3: The inquiry has the potential to be one of the most important steps in improving the lives of children in care and we are looking forward to seeing the outcomes. #childrenscare #socialcare #educationcommittee

I have been watching with great interest the discussion around the resurrection of Sure Start programmes, and as someone who was involved in working with families, and early years children who presented behaviours that challenged, in the late 90’s, early 2000’s I would welcome their return for a number of reasons. Sure Start: 1. Provided Early Intervention and Support: Sure Start centres offered a wide range of services, including childcare, health services, parenting classes, and family support. By intervening early in a child’s life, Sure Start aimed to improve outcomes for both children and their families. 2. Targeted Disadvantaged Communities: Sure Start focused on areas with high levels of deprivation, aiming to address the root causes of inequality. By providing support to families in these areas, Sure Start sought to break the cycle of poverty and improve social mobility. 3. Holistic Approach: Sure Start took an holistic approach to child development, recognising that factors such as health, education, and family dynamics were interconnected. By addressing multiple aspects of a child’s life, Sure Start aimed to provide comprehensive support for their development. 4. Community Engagement: Sure Start centres often acted as hubs for the local community, bringing families together and fostering social connections. The topic of this session is 'Courageous Conversations: Partnering with Families to Support Child Development.' The session will be delivered by Stephanie Johnston, Community Capacity Leader at EACH, NDIS partner. Stephanie has been working with children and families for 16 years and has a background in primary school teaching, counseling, and community development.
