Ethiopia's Healthcare Crisis The limited reach of Ethiopia's national electricity grid is a significant obstacle to providing quality healthcare. The rapid expansion of primary health facilities in rural areas, driven by national health initiatives, has far outpaced the grid's growth. As a result, many health centers lack the necessary infrastructure to deliver proper care. Many healthcare professionals are reluctant to work in these centers without reliable electricity. This exacerbates the healthcare crisis, especially with the WHO projecting a shortage of 200,000 to 300,000 nurses in Ethiopia by 2030. ☀️ Solar Power: A Vital Solution ☀️ Solar energy offers a sustainable solution to power these health facilities, making them more attractive workplaces and ensuring essential services can be provided. Your donation can help fund solar panels for the Galeya Rogdha Clinic, improving access to vital healthcare services. Empowering Communities through Local Heroes Today, we spotlight the inspiring work of Sh. Devu, a dedicated community healthcare worker from Velugam Village, Silvassa, a tribal and underserved region. In the video, he is seen educating the local community about the importance of maintaining an iron-rich diet to combat iron deficiency. He highlights accessible sources of iron, its benefits for overall health, and the significance of daily hygiene and sanitation practices in improving quality of life. By hiring and empowering local individuals like Sh. Devu, who understand the unique challenges and ecosystem of their communities, we are creating a profound impact. These efforts not only improve health awareness but also foster trust and engagement within the community, ensuring that critical healthcare knowledge reaches those who need it the most. “Our mission extends beyond providing healthcare; it’s about empowering communities to take charge of their well-being and secure a brighter future,” says Dr.Radhika Batra, Founder and President. With initiatives like this, we aim to bridge the gap in healthcare access for tribal and underserved communities. By combining knowledge, local expertise, and grassroots outreach, we’re paving the way for a healthier, more informed, and self-reliant society. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our CEO, Dr. Shelly Batra, our donors, and local government authorities for their continued support in making these initiatives possible. Together, we are driving meaningful change. 16 stages of loadshedding on the rise Energy regulator, NERSA, has approved and introduced changes to South Africa's loadshedding structure, extending to stage 16. Healthcare facilities are vulnerable to blackouts. Hospitals and clinics face two major problems during loadshedding: - Power fluctuations damage vital medical equipment, driving up repair and replacement costs. - Disrupted power hinders sanitation processes, raising the risk of infections and outbreaks. Witkoppen Clinic is committed to proactively addressing loadshedding disruptions. Your support is crucial for installing UPS devices, ensuring uninterrupted critical equipment operation, and safeguarding patient care. Join us by contributing today to ensure the continued delivery of vital healthcare services to the community, even in the face of power challenges. Your contribution, big or small, will ensure our community continues to receive vital healthcare services during this critical time. https://lnkd.in/guxySyeZ

Without access to electricity, health facilities are unable to provide access to modern healthcare. Yet, an estimated 3 out of every 4 health facilities across sub-Saharan Africa lack access to reliable electricity, and 1 in 4 have no access to electricity at all. Millions of people, in particular children, women and the elderly, are left vulnerable. This is yet another face of poverty, limiting lives and potential. As we continue our fight against poverty, SolarAid has committed to ensuring that no clinic in Africa is left in the dark, without access to light and power. They believe that solar power has a vital role to play in helping solve this problem. Working together with local health partners, they are developing programmes which aim to demonstrate that plug-and-play solar systems and handheld medical appliances, can be used to develop a sustainable, replicable and scalable model through which rural health facilities have improved access to a wider range and higher quality of healthcare services. That is just one of the ways SolarAid are helping to deliver light to the people who need it most. We are proud to announce the launch of a significant seven-figure funding programme to develop health improvements across the NHS Grampian area 🎉 Our Lasting Impact programme will make £1 million available to third sector organisations, academics and researchers across Grampian to develop collaborative projects across a range of health and social care topics. Lisa Duthie, charity lead, says, "The Lasting Impact programme is an incredibly exciting opportunity to bring community and public sector groups together with researchers to undertake projects with a public health focus. "Our aim is to create real, tangible improvements in health outcomes for patients in Grampian, particularly those experiencing health inequalities, through research into the prevention, cause and treatment of ill-health, as well as improving wellness in our communities. "Grampian faces many of the same health challenges as other regions of Scotland and the wider UK, as well as its own unique health challenges, and we are very grateful to our supporters whose generous donations will put improving the health of Grampian at the forefront of these projects. The charity will officially open the programme to applicants at its Lasting Impact Symposium on Tuesday 21st January at the Foresterhill Health Campus. You can find out more about the programme or register to attend the symposium on the charity's website 👉 https://buff.ly/4eB6ZJ1

Federally qualified health centers play a crucial role in the U.S. healthcare system, serving 1 in 10 people nationwide. In Massachusetts, North Shore Community Health (NSCH) serves 13,000 individuals annually across its health center locations in Salem, Peabody, and Gloucester. Community health centers like NSCH are non-profit organizations that provide high quality healthcare to medically underserved communities. North Shore’s commitment to #sustainability is at the heart of their mission to create healthier communities. Through a two-year agreement, NSCH will receive Green-e® #RenewableEnergy certificates (RECs) from ENGIE to match 100% of North Shore’s consumption. In addition to an environmentally friendly mindset, NSCH has undertaken initiatives including #energyefficiency upgrades and encouraging eco-friendly practices among staff. 🌍💚 We applaud North Shore’s journey towards a more sustainable and healthier Massachusetts! https://lnkd.in/gG2DgnmB #GreenEnergy #CommunityHealth #SustainableFuture #energy
