Today is the (lucky) 13th anniversary of one of the greatest projects I've ever had the privilege to be part of - the 144-panel solar thermal project atop the Saint Paul RiverCentre. So celebrating with a little look back and a BIG thank you to the partners that made this possible - Kate S., Bill Huepenbecker, Jim Giebel, Anne Hunt, Chris Coleman, Brian Ross, Stacy Miller, Kathy Ross Pavek, Jora Bart, Anders Rydaker, Ken Smith, Bjorn Gangeness, Ray Watts, Jeff Volovsek, Joe Lucas, Jason Coughlin, and the teams from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Solar America Cities), TKDA, Pioneer Power, Sheehy Construction Company, and Arcon Solar. And bonus shout outs to any other team members from Ever-Green Energy that made that project a reality. This was a first-of-its-kind project in the U.S. and where I cut my teeth understanding how difficult it is to be the first with emerging technology at this type of scale. Spoiler alert - it's hard. But that list of partners above is how we made it happen. It's why the Grid Catalyst program is built on a similar partnership model. And it's why some of you may have seen the project poster, designed by AlyssA Greening, behind me in a Zoom meeting. Extra fun to see current collaborators - Peter Frosch and Gregg Mast in these pics, showing up for innovation and clean energy at our launch event. Now two of the most crucial partners for driving energy and cleantech innovation in Minnesota. #AccelerateNorth #demo2deploy #solar #partnership #innovation #Minnesota #WeNeedCleanMN

Community energy projects, owned and controlled by the very people they serve, offer an equitable, sustainable solution. Through these initiatives, communities can create renewable energy microgrids, eliminating fuel poverty and helping the UK transition to Net Zero. Our Project Coordinator Danny Fay will be attending the Northern Powergrid Community Energy Conference in York next week. If you plan to be there and want to discuss how to cut costs, consumption and carbon be sure to see Danny! In the current energy system, generators sell their energy back to suppliers at rates two to three times lower than the end customer price. This significantly reduces profitability, making fewer projects economically viable, and provides little incentive for small-scale renewable energy schemes. In an era where energy security is paramount, communities are vulnerable, especially during peak demand periods and global uncertainty. #York #CommunityEnergy #UKEnergy
One week to go until our Community Energy Conferences in York and Newcastle📢 Next week, we are hosting Northern Powergrid's Community Energy Conferences in partnership with Community Energy England. The events will allow community-based energy organisations and projects to network, hear from experts and learn more about how Northern Powergrid supports community energy in its region. You can register for your ticket for free👇 York, Wednesday 3 July: https://shorturl.at/iqGJ1 Newcastle, Thursday 4 July: https://shorturl.at/hNQW2

At Renewable America, community commitment is at the heart of what we do. Our strategic approach involves developing lasting relationships with local landowners, fostering economic growth, and expanding access to affordable clean energy. Operating in areas vulnerable to extreme weather and low-income communities, we ensure critical power support during events like Public Safety Power Shutoffs. Our solar and energy storage microgrids are designed to provide essential power during emergencies, safeguarding vulnerable populations. Beyond reliability, we make a dedicated investment in each community, minimizing environmental impact and collaborating with local stakeholders for job creation and economic growth. As extreme weather events become more frequent, our microgrids, integrating renewable solar energy with storage, play a crucial role in delivering cost-effective and resilient local power supply.
