Why is my robot joint offset important❓ Joint offset is the difference between the expected position of a robot joint and its actual position. Some amount of joint offset will occur in most industrial robots, including six-axis robots. Factors like tolerances in a robot’s manufacture or wear and tear will cause it. Over time, a robot’s movements will become more inaccurate as its joints drift from their expected positions. The robot will start to perform tasks further from where it needs to. To improve your six-axis robot accuracy, you can calibrate its joint positions with RCS T-90 and RCS Software Suite. In a dedicated test, identify the offset of your robot’s joints. With the results, you can set your robot's position to compensate for the offset. Reducing a robot's joint offset will help to improve the quality and efficiency of its work. Industrial robots can move on three or more axes, are automated, and can be programmed. The earliest known industrial robot, completed by Bill Griffith P. Taylor in 1937, was powered by a single electric motor and had five axes of movement. Automation was achieved using punched paper tape to energise solenoids, facilitating the movement of the crane's control levers. The robot could stack wooden blocks in pre-programmed patterns, and the number of motor revolutions required for each desired movement was plotted on graph paper and transferred to the paper tape, which was also driven by the robot's single motor.
