Communication, advocacy, and even history-taking are all behaviors engrained in the EMS provider. In fact, we can all think of an educator, preceptor, or partner who helped teach and role-model these skills. Because these behaviors reflect our training, they are also open to bias based on our different lived experiences. Join us this month for the Prehospital Care Research Forum education webinar as we review this scoping review on using simulation to teach behavioral skills related to diversity, equity, and inclusion: https://ow.ly/Kkve50QTHNb

Meet one of our latest APPE students, Timothy Widjaja from University of the Pacific. "Before my rotation at CPhA I did not have a clue how much work was done on behalf of the pharmacy profession thinking that every 2 years or so they helped get a bill passed. But during my rotation I saw the tireless work that goes into a single bill from hearing the concerns of pharmacists across the states, to finding the right champion in the legislature, to meeting with and educating legislators on why the bill needs to pass." Are you a student who wants to learn more about association management or advocacy in the association? Learn more about APPE rotation with CPhA! www.cpha.com/appe

Hey SLP's and Auds! It's time to act! SO FAR ONLY 1% OF ASHA MEMBERS HAVE RESPONDED TO THE SURVEY. When it comes to policy changes and advocacy, our professions need SO MUCH CHANGE! But how do we decide on what to focus on out of hundreds of issues? Every year, ASHA’s Government Affairs and Public Policy Board (GAPPB) develops a public policy agenda listing the advocacy priorities for audiologists and speech-language pathologists (SLPs) for the upcoming year. The GAPPB identifies those priorities based on feedback provided by members and affiliates through an online survey. Your response is critical to help GAPPB better understand the issues that impact you. Once the GAPPB identifies ASHA’s priorities, staff will develop strategies to achieve them. The Dayton Region Priority Development and Advocacy Committee (PDAC) was established as a committee of the DDC to assist in establishing regional priorities for funding public projects that benefit the economic development, health, education or quality of life in the region. The PDAC process involves coordination by representatives from the Dayton Region’s business community, local government, education and civic organizations. The PDAC process is organized to evaluate projects and establish a list of regional priorities and recommended projects to aid the community in speaking with one voice when pursuing funding opportunities. The PDAC review panels evaluate submissions in the following areas: Defense; Economic Development; Hospitals, Healthcare & Human Services; Quality of Life; and Transportation & Government Services. All submissions – including any supporting documents included with the questionnaire – are open to public review. Project sponsors are discouraged from including proprietary or sensitive information as part of their questionnaire. Additional information about the PDAC process, including questionnaire instructions, can be found here. https://lnkd.in/g5gbxH8Z

While crucial for low-income families, WIC's procurement practices may inadvertently drive up formula prices for others. Reform is needed to ensure market resilience and equitable access to infant nutrition. The Federal Trade Commission’s report on the infant formula market highlights how programs like WIC contribute to market concentration, posing risks of supply disruptions. Despite WIC's cost-effectiveness and positive impact on low-income families, there are unintended consequences.
