🚀👏 Defense startup Ares Industries has announced the first flight test of a new anti-ship cruise missile being developed for the US military. The weapon, said to be 10 times smaller and cheaper than existing missile systems, was tested within 11 weeks of the company’s opening. It is reportedly meant to help fill the “munitions gap” caused by expensive weapons in the US armed forces inventory. “Anti-ship missiles only come in one size: big. These missiles were designed to blow up huge destroyers,” company founder Jared Friedman said. “But the frigates in the Chinese Navy are much smaller. And now we have drone ships. It makes no sense to take out a $200K drone ship with a $3M missile.” Y Combinator #military #army #defense #defence #defenseindustry #defenceindustry #defensetech #defencetech #militarytech #technology #innovation #missile #missiles #airdefense #airdefence

https://lnkd.in/g9Twwidf U.S. F-35s To Get British ‘Spoofers’ To Bamboozle Russian, Chinese Missiles; Here Is How AED Can Thwart SAMs An active expendable decoy, or AED, was recently tested on the US F-35 Lightning II fighter. Using this decoy, the stealth fighter is expected to thwart attacks from a range of adversarial air defense systems, including China’s and Russia’s S-400 missiles. This comes weeks after the US Navy disclosed plans to acquire an active expendable decoy (AED) for the Lockheed Martin F-35

The US is working on providing Ukraine with long-range JASSM cruise missiles for the F-16 and increasing their production. The Biden administration is "open" to providing Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles that will give F-16 fighter jets more combat power. The readiness of the White House to provide Ukraine with air-to-surface missiles appeared because of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's successful offensive in the Kursk region. There is no final decision yet, but the administration is working on the intricate details. An affirmative decision would deliver Ukraine JASSM missiles and the possibility to launch the cruise missiles from fighter jets for more than 300 km. Against this possible decision, the US State Department allocated $130M to increase the production of JASSM and LRASM anti-ship missiles. The funds will go to Lockheed Martin, which plans to increase its production capacity by the end of 2027. It should be noted that the Ukrainian army will receive an advanced Buffalo MPV armored engineering vehicle, which has been approved by Washington. This military vehicle manufactured by the US Army uses MRAP (Mine Resistant and Ambush Protection) technology. https://lnkd.in/dG_yYfxR

And that the usage constraints on long range precision missiles on the Ukraine military are released imminently. And I can’t thank you yet, USA … sorry. This may be just as your behaviour on F-16 … you’ll apply brakes; to hugely and unnecessarily delay delivery … and are possibly only saying the above to buy you time and appear to doing something. It is a large, stealthy long-range weapon with a 1,000-pound (450 kg) armor piercing warhead. It completed testing and entered service with the U.S. Air Force in 2009, and has entered foreign service in Australia, Finland, and Poland as of 2014. An extended range version of the missile, the AGM-158B JASSM-ER (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile-Extended Range), entered service in 2014 as well as an anti-ship derivative, the AGM-158C LRASM (Long Range Anti-Ship Missile), in 2018. By September 2016, Lockheed Martin had delivered 2,000 total JASSMs comprising both variants to the USAF’: Thank you, Nikki 🇳🇿🇺🇦:

The Biden/Harris/Austin military strategy in the Middle East is going to get a lot of Sailors killed, mostly in our DDGs. B/H/A is playing defense supposedly to avoid expanding the current ME war, which is expanding in front of our eyes. Our DDGs have a superlative weapon system but it’s designed to fight fighter-bombers and ballistic missiles. Iran’s proxies don’t have those weapons. They have massive numbers of drones and short range missiles that use swarm attack tactics designed to overwhelm a DDG weapons systems through saturation, which will result in Sailor casualties. B/H/A need to change to an offensive strategy and destroy launch sites and proxy leadership before our Sailors start getting killed.

The United States has ordered the production of new lightweight #LWCLU launchers for the #Javelin anti-tank system. The Javelin Joint Venture received two production contracts totaling $267 million. Under the contracts, the command and control systems will also be sent to the military of #Estonia, #Latvia and #Lithuania. “We will produce the Javelin LWCLU for the US Army, United States Marine Corps and allies,” the company stated. Work under these contracts will take place in #Tucson, and their completion is expected in 2026 and 2028. The LWCL control panel is the only component of the Javelin system and is resusable. The full-scale production of the LWCLU has resulted in cost-effectiveness and helped accelerate delivery times. The Javelin LWCLU is 30% smaller and 25% lighter than its predecessor, the Block I Command Launch Unit, while doubling target detection and recognition. The basic module consists of: the body, shock absorbers, handles, battery compartment, optical sight, thermal sight, eyepiece, training equipment connection slot and missile connection slot. Other relevant logistical and program support elements may be present. To date, the Javelin Joint Venture has produced more than 50,000 Javelin missiles and more than 12,000 reusable command and control launchers. As a reminder, in 2022, the United Kingdom ordered 513 new LWCLUs for Javelin. https://lnkd.in/dg5cbD9Z

Good news for Arizona, Florida and Alabama. Last week, the U.S. Army awarded the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) a follow-on fiscal year 2024 production contract for Javelin missiles and associated equipment and services with total value of $1.3 billion. As the largest single-year Javelin production contract to date, this is the first follow-on award that is a part of an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) production contract that was initially awarded in May 2023. With more than 25 international customers worldwide, the contract supports Javelin’s increased global demand, including new international customer Kosovo. The contract also includes more than 4,000 Javelins to replenish rounds sent to Ukraine. Javelin is developed and produced by the JJV between RTX in Tucson, Arizona and Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida. To date, the JJV has produced more than 50,000 Javelin missiles and more than 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units. Lockheed Martin’s Pike County Operations facility in Troy Alabama is a manufacturing, final assembly, test and storage operation for many of the missile programs supported by Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC). The site has 4,000 acres of land with 52 buildings and has over 600 employees. https://lnkd.in/e6nFMcpp #economicdevelopment #siteselection #orlandoeconomicpartnership #javelin #misslemanufacturing #army #airdefense #hirevets #lockheed #rtx
