Day one of The Sedona Conference Working Group 13 on Artificial Intelligence and the Law has begun with Session 1: "What Do We Mean by 'AI'," led by Niloy Ray, Paul H. McVoy, Harry Strange, and Lucky Vidmar. This session focuses on two primary objectives: providing a baseline understanding of the benefits, risks, and basic functioning of various AI technologies, and exploring the evolving legal definitions of AI that have emerged in recent years. By addressing factual nuances, dispelling common misunderstandings, and outlining key AI laws, this discussion sets the stage for these two days of meaningful dialogue on AI and the law.

Attending this webinar on "Artificial Intelligence Through A Legal Lens" by Adv. Ankur Goyat Sir was an illuminating experience! I gained valuable insight into the field of AI and its impact on the legal system, from AI-powered investigations to the issues of AI bias and deep fakes. The webinar was thought-provoking, challenging and enlightening.

It's going to be my AI week: I just took part in a Bitcom webinar in which Prof. Huber from the Fraunhofer Institute talked about the challenges of using generative AI in business. It was very interesting insights. For me, the question arises as to why there are still no decent tools in the field of law. I am still working with Beck-Online and the search function is terrible. A large part of the work consists of researching the correct applicable law, comparable cases and court decisions. Or do you know more? The latest Nelson Mullins' AI Task Force blog breaks down the Colorado AI Act (CAIA). The Act will take effect on Feb. 1, 2026, becoming the first comprehensive, risk-based approach to artificial intelligence (AI) regulation to be signed into law in the United States. This new legislation is intended to govern the use of AI systems in certain applications by private sector developers and deployers, to ensure transparency, consumer rights, and accountability.
