🚦 Exciting News! 🚦 The City of Alexandria, Virginia has been awarded a Stage 1 SMART Grant from U.S. Department of Transportation. This grant will help us test technology to scan our roadways for more proactive approach to roadway maintenance, leveraging AI detection technology to create a dynamic, real-time inventory of pavement conditions and traffic signs. By using existing City vehicle routes—like buses and garbage trucks—we can: ✅ Improve fairness in road repaving prioritization ✅ Support autonomous vehicle safety ✅ Shift to proactive infrastructure management Looking forward to our continued partnership with the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute on this project.
