The propaganda war between Ideologues and the bemused just hotted up. Until now, the bemused (deluded or otherwise) had scarce voice. Now The Daily Wire came out with 'Am I R***st'. For some reason, justified or mistaken, mainstream critics have ignored it. https:/e/https://lnkd.in/gpNssRYB This film appears to use the same successful method in the Borat movies that made normal US citizens look stupid, in their own words. Clips from Borat: https://lnkd.in/gWX_J2jA In the out-takes, unwitting people, many who paid to participate, seemed as unaware of the deception as of the ideology that controls them The way ideology instills artificial stupidity into intelligent and educated people is terrifying. The risk is not just in The Left, as mid C20 Europe found. [The Sin Against The Blood, Triumph of the Will etc:]. The same off-the wall strange behaviour can be found in self-labelled Right Wingers. Neither Left nor Right can bring them to self-label just saying they are humans; instead, they signal political servility with their Lefts and Rights Whether you feel this second effort from Matt Walsh should be treated as shocking and immoral, in the same category as 'What is a Wo**n?', this film shows domination of propaganda is no longer in the hands of one political tendency Ridicule can be a two edged sword. Dish it out and you can make yourself a target. It is particularly unkind in that it can unjustifiably smear noble, just and worthy objectives. This is a war of ridicule. But which side is most ridiculous or are both, like frightened, overweight, middle aged drunks brawling in a down market bar, equally absurd, pitiful and degraded? When politics fails to address major concerns, they bubble up elsewhere. This miserable dispute, whatever you may think of its participants, should have been headed off by political institutions. Instead, they ignored ideology (Left and Right) and lost control, leaving DEI propagandists and The Daily Wire to slug it out elsewhere When political institutions will not do their job, politics does not go away. Unless the intelligentsia gets a grip on itself, the next stage can be censorship, that failing, oppression. https://lnkd.in/ezFfNvkY I watched this last night with Paul. It deserves all the good attention it has received, and, for Cillian Murphy's stand out performance. Some of the reviews in the Irish Times, particularly Michael Harding was farce comical, making it about him, with a generic comment that the film was beautiful and sublime. Nothing much else about the film, and the rest of the review, totally irrelevant to the content of the film, rather, his experience of the cinema and staff, was the bulk of it. Reviews today really do glide. For me, the anatomy of this movie, shines a light on the valence of gripping and dripping inarticulacy, omnipresent in the lie(s) of the land; a whip that extends to psychological dynamics, both overt, and extreme and brutal punishment; profiting out of others suffering, via the barren sacrifice coercive creationism, under the conditions, designed by the state, a responsibility deployed to the patron, to carry out the state endorsed mission of coercion control. We now see how our state can disaffiliate, from its first things first badge of honour, the expectations of batting with the team, and now, how all the responsibility is placed on the sub contract, in an attempt to clear its name, from the cratering of human potential. The movie goes right in to the heart of the withering impact of coercion, the multiple sinister ways to engender fear, from the bottom up and middle out, our organs have set bonds of stifling allegiance; how the modes of mental and emotional experience, spread into larger patterns of social action/interaction; our motivations; our mentalities as taken for granted; run roughshod by the powers that be, that agreed to take us down this route, lasting centuries. In order to grasp the small things like these, the macro template is key, how reason was stretched by post-truth era, where facts and assertion, traverse our bodies, in the devaluation of thought itself, to suit the labyrinthine moguls, who ruled the roost; the concealed and congealing nefariousness of it all; where we were expected to comply in the grace of 'nothing to see here' 'who are we to question, but to accept' (The Countrywoman 1962) -the dogmatic grounding and pounding of innocent people, formed in the political obligation of history and the ignition for our responses to imitate the Christ, the word of God as he dwelt among us. https://lnkd.in/eyJqaPgd

De Niro’s Downfall (and Ours) Article- By now, we should be accustomed to seeing favorite performers betray us, risking years of goodwill and fond memories to express petulant political bias and empty promises. (“I’ll leave America if . . . ”) But the utter disgrace that actor Robert De Niro has made of himself — through profane and irrational outbursts against President Trump and American civility — hurts deeper than most. De Niro told a local New York news show that he called Biden to volunteer, gushing, “I’ll do anything you need me to do.” This partisanship differs from how actors Burt Lancaster, Marlon Brando, Harry Belafonte, and Charlton Heston risked their careers to participate in the 1963 March on Washington. Their response, in the last days of liberal decency, answered a nation’s need, not elitist tyranny. A politician or journalist may practice deceit, but a great actor should not. The power of De Niro’s acting transcended play-acting to find universal truths — not Oprah’s “your truth,” but our truth. And that’s what De Niro’s political tantrums have debased. We used to assume that De Niro was our guy because his performances indicated that he understood our deepest feelings.
