Exploring Skills Gaps: Insights from SSACI's Latest Research Report! 📊    The "Identification of Skills Gaps in South Africa: A Technical Research Report" by the Swiss South African Cooperation Initiative (SSACI) sheds light on critical areas where our workforce needs support. Through extensive analysis, the report identifies a range of soft skills gaps that directly impact our nation's economic and social development.    According to the report, based on data from the OECD and QLFS surveys, some of the top soft skills gaps in South Africa include:    🔊 Active listening   🧩 Complex problem-solving   🤔 Judgement and decision-making   🌱 Adaptability and resilience   ⏰ Time management      These findings stress the urgent need for comprehensive skills development initiatives that go beyond technical skills alone, fostering a well-rounded skill set.     Our Phakama! I am glad to share that I had the opportunity to co-author our latest report, “Skill Diversification in the Arab Region: A Pathway for Economic Prosperity”, with my colleagues in the Future of Work team. The report addresses the challenges hindering economic diversification in the Arab region. It presents the latest findings from the ESCWA Skills Monitor, highlighting the most in-demand skills. Additionally, the report introduces the Skill Demand Diversity Scores, comprising four components used to assess the diversity of skill demand. Explore our insights and learn more about the future of skills in the Arab region!

On World #YouthSkillsDay under the theme "Youth Skills for Peace and Development” BUSINESSAfrica is proud to make efforts in sharing knowledge and experience concerning its ambition to equip young people with skills in Africa. In her remarks, MS. Jacqueline Mugo Secretary General of BUSINESSAfrica, during the world youth skills day pointed out efforts in bridging skills gap as follows; 1. Collaborates with employers to provide workplace training and runs apprenticeship programs. 2. Organisations to work closely with governments, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to develop and implement policies that support youth employment and skills development. 3. Provision of career guidance and counseling services to help young people make informed decisions about their career paths. 4. Advocacy for policies that promote youth employment and address barriers to entry into the labour market. 5. Enhancement of TVET programs to ensure they are responsive to the needs of the labour market. 6. Research and data collection on labour market trends, skills gaps, and youth employment. By implementing these initiatives, Africa will create a more inclusive labour market that provides ample opportunities for young people to develop their skills and secure meaningful employment. #SkillupAfrica #WorldYouthSkillsDay #voiceofafricanyouth
