Research conducted for Johnson and Johnson published in scientific journal. In a recent study led by Johnson and Johnson, the use of real world evidence collected by patient records from physicians to examine the impact of genetic mutations on response to therapy in urothelial carcinoma was explored. Findings from a study conducted by Dr. Chris Gaj, Vice President at Research Partnership, were included in this study and published in Clinical Genitourinary Cancer. 💡 NEW FINDINGS: A certain genetic mutation can lead to B-cell lymphoma in a structure in the gut called the mesenteric lymph nodes. This appears to be due to a substance called glutamine, an amino acid that the body makes and is also found in food. ➡ Read more: https://lnkd.in/e7FrFnFx These findings are only applicable in mouse models today, but if extended into future human studies, this research could eventually identify therapeutic targets for G-alpha13-deficient lymphoma. 🧬 Case of the month: How OncoDEEP® CGP guided treatment choices for a Stage IV Glioma patient's oncologist This month we present a case involving a 40-year-old man diagnosed with stage IV glioma cancer in 2023, presenting with peritoneal and liver metastases. Initially treated with Temozolomide chemotherapy, this case highlights the essential role of genetic profiling in advancing treatment strategies for glioma, one of the main forms of malignant brain tumour in adults. For more details on this case and the proposed treatment strategy based on the results of the analysis of the CGP OncoDEEP® panel, click: https://lnkd.in/ezGhvyFz #OncoDEEP #GliomaTreatment #PrecisionMedicine #GenomicProfiling #CaseoftheMonth #PrecisionOncology

Surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer, melanoma, empowering through education, and patient centered care
Anywhere from 5-20% of pancreatic, ovarian, peritoneal, male breast cancer, and metastatic prostate cancer are hereditary. If you have a first or second degree relative with these you meet criteria for genetic testing, which can only be done by a clinician. The companies I trust are Myriad, Natera, Invitae, and Ambry as these are validated unlike commercial tests like 23 and me. They can be ordered by a genetic counselor, some PCPs or ObGyns, or medical or surgical oncologists. Know your risk. #geneticcounseling #patientexperience #oncology

Genomic Testing plays a pivotal role in oncology. It helps determine tumor characteristics, guiding treatment decisions towards more targeted and effective therapies. By analyzing the genetic mutations present in cancer cells, clinicians can identify specific molecular targets and tailor treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy accordingly. This approach not only enhances treatment outcomes but also minimizes adverse effects by avoiding medications that may not be beneficial for certain genetic profiles.
