Four years ago, I embarked on a journey of investment, not in a business or a project, but in the visionary leadership of Todd Sanders, the CEO of Spirits Capital Corporation. I cannot stress this enough: founders and #entrepreneurs need to be passionate about their business, serving their customers, and delivering a better experience. Recent data reported by Ted Bililies, Ph.D. in Harvard Business Review supports this:   “Value creation through operations (revenue growth and margin improvement) has accounted for 47% of value creation since 2010, up from 18% in the 1980s, while the value created by financial engineering has fallen from 51% to 25%.”   Too often, #PE and #VC portfolio company executives focus on returns and short-term profit.
