Tomorrow, Norfolk and Waveney Mind will be recognising #WorldSuicidePreventionDay Suicide prevention can seem like an impossible mountain to climb. We still battle the stigma attached to suicide every day and many people find it hard to talk about. This can be because they are worried about how others will react or because they cannot find the words. They might hide how they are feeling and convince friends or family that they are coping. This World Suicide Prevention Day we ask you to consider what prevention looks like for you. Sometimes it is about support, other times it is the simple things like a coffee or a hug. We’ve put together a short video highlighting ways in which we can look after ourselves and others, and invite you to tell us where suicide prevention starts for you?

💚 September is Suicide Prevention Month 💚 Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide. Now more than ever, it’s important to come together and raise awareness. Here’s how we can all do our part to build a supportive community: 🌟 Start the Conversation: Don’t be afraid to reach out. A simple "How are you?" or "I'm here for you" can make a world of difference to someone struggling. Let’s break the silence. 🌟 Be Present: Sometimes, all someone needs is a listening ear. Be open, patient, and non-judgmental. Encourage those around you to share their feelings without fear of being dismissed or misunderstood. 🌟 Share Resources: Equip yourself and others with the knowledge of local and national support systems, hotlines, and counseling options. Remind those in need that help is always available. 🌟 Lead with Compassion: It’s not just about listening—it’s about truly showing up. Whether it’s a shoulder to lean on or guiding someone toward professional help, every small action counts. 🗣️ Ask. 👂 Listen. 🤝 Encourage them to seek help. Your story, your voice, and your support can save a life. Let’s come together to build a community where no one feels alone, and everyone has the chance to seek the help they need. Together, we can make a difference. 🌟💪 #SuicidePrevention #BuildCommunity #MentalHealthMatters #SupportEachOther #YouAreNotAlone #RaiseAwareness

Did you know most people who attempt suicide show warning signs beforehand? Whether it’s withdrawing from loved ones, changes in behavior, or expressing feelings of hopelessness, these signs often indicate someone may be in crisis. Recognizing them and offering support could make all the difference. If you notice these warning signs in someone, don’t hesitate to reach out. A simple conversation can open the door for them to seek help. You can guide them to resources like the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK) or Crisis Text Line (Text HOME to 741741), both available 24/7. Sometimes, just letting them know you're there to listen can be the first step toward healing. This Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, be proactive. At Evia, we encourage you to check in with friends and family, share these vital resources, and educate yourself about the warning signs of suicide. Together, we can create a supportive environment where no one has to face their struggles alone. Your awareness and compassion can save lives. #EndTheStigma #StartTheConversation #SuicidePreventionAwarenessMonth

Today, 10th September, is World Suicide Prevention Day. Every year on this date, organisations and communities around the world come together to raise awareness about how we can work together to create a world where fewer people die by suicide. World Suicide Prevention Day is a chance for us all to come together, raise awareness, and take meaningful steps towards preventing suicide and supporting those who may be struggling to cope. This is such a complex and frankly terrifying subject that most people shy away from taking action or learning more about suicide but the more we talk about it, the more people will be prevented from taking this tragic action. The Samaritans are the “experts” on this subject, please take 5 minutes to read the following article, you never know if you might need this information in the future: https://lnkd.in/dXKzSSi Together we will find the words to speak more openly about suicide. #suicidepreventionday #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealtheducation #reducingstigma #mentalhealthfirstaid #mentalhealthchampions #inclusivesociety
