Here are some essential tips to stay safe: 1. Wear Sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Reapply every 2 hours, especially if you’re sweating heavily. 2. Take Breaks in the Shade: During peak sunlight hours (10 AM - 4 PM), take breaks in shaded areas to give your skin a rest from direct sun exposure. 3. Wear Protective Clothing: Long sleeves, wide-brimmed hats, and UV-blocking sunglasses can help shield your skin and eyes from UV rays. 4. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body and skin hydrated. 5. Use Cooling Gear: Consider wearing cooling towels or vests to help manage your body temperature. 6. Monitor the UV Index: Check the daily UV index to understand your risk level and plan accordingly. 7. It's beautiful to see that sunshine again!😎 Let's be mindful of simple steps we can take to protect ourselves and our workers who are in the heat. Here are the recommendations from the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) on outdoor work in hot temperatures: > Reschedule work to cooler times of the day > Provide more frequent rest breaks and introduce shading to rest areas > Provide free access to cool drinking water > Introduce shading in areas where people are working > Encourage workers to remove personal protective equipment when resting to help encourage heat loss > Make sure workers can recognise the early symptoms of heat stress And how to protect yourself from the UV rays: > Keep your top on. > Wear a hat with a brim or a flap that covers the ears and the back of the neck. > Stay in the shade whenever possible, during your breaks and especially at lunch time. > Use a high factor sunscreen of at least SPF15 on any exposed skin. > Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. > Check your skin regularly for any unusual moles or spots. See a doctor promptly if you find anything that is changing in shape, size or colour, itching or bleeding. #SlaterSafety have a vast range of Summer PPE products available... shorts, wicking tshirts, suncream, sunglasses (prescription lenses available)... to name a few Please make sure you keep your team safe, whatever the good old British weather has to throw at us!! 😄 ☀️ 🌦️ sales@slatersafety.co.uk www.slatersafety.co.uk 01772 691000 #SlaterSafety #HSE #outdoorworking #SummerPPE #PPE #Safetyfirst

Protection in the swelter. The summer for the lot of us in the Northern Hemisphere is typically a stretch of pleasure but one that also can require precaution. When conditions become extreme, with temperatures climbing (all the worse, if you're in an area of humidity), keeping yourself healthy in the heat is crucial. Outside and inside, from sun skincare to body temperature regulation, particularly if you're someone more-susceptible to the heat and sun, there are many protective tactics available. Basics include regular hydration, especially with cool (avoid too-cold) water; wearing lightweight and light-colored clothing; adjusting outdoor activity time to avoid the hottest time of day (typically between noon to 3 pm); seeking cooler areas (shade, if outside) or environments (shopping centers, public libraries, local shelters), especially if one doesn't have access to air-conditioning; cooling the body by holding hairless parts, such as palms and feet, under cool water ... Avoid or minimize the negative impact of the heat. The expression "fun in the sun" should be a simple joy to experience, but the day can turn dark, if one's not wary of and prepared to manage when summer weather becomes extreme. https://buff.ly/3xlvCdh @centers-for-disease-control-and-prevention #chiropractic #ArlingtonChiropractor #ArlingtonChiropractic #wellbeing #wellness #SelfCare #ProtectYourHealth #HealthyLifestyle #SelfCare #HeatHealth #HeatExhaustion #HeatIllness #HeatIllnessPrevention #HeatSafety #HeatAwareness #ExtremeHeatSafety #HeatSafetyTips #HotWeatherSafety #HeatwaveSafety #SummerSafety #SummerHealth

When I speak about heat stress and worker safety, we usually discuss outdoor industries like construction and agriculture. What if I told you that people working in air conditioned, ventilated rooms are at risk of heat illness too? I tested this out myself today in a clean room manufacturing facility, gowned up with a full suit, head cover, and boots. Here’s what I learned: 🥼wearing PPE like gowns can raise your body temperature by up to 2.7°F / 1.5°C even in controlled environments, as body heat builds up from reduced airflow and sweat evaporation. 💡 labor productivity can drop by 1-3% for every degree Celsius increase above 27°C (80.6°F). For clean room workers, PPE gowns create microclimates that mimic these heat conditions, leading to fatigue and reduced focus on precision tasks. Here’s what we can do to help: 💦regular hydration breaks 🌬️more breathable PPE that still meet cleanliness standards And my personal favorite … a wearable patch that goes under the gown to absorb the user’s heat throughout their entire shift, like the one we’re making at Eztia 😉 Let’s prioritize the safety and well-being of those working in clean rooms and other environments where heat risk might not be obvious. #safetyfirst #cleanroom #heatstress #PPE #workplacewellness #manufacturing #occupationalhealth #cooling
