The past couple of weeks have been rather challenging and ironically exciting. I initially got a mail from Hacktify Cyber Security that i had progressed from the first stage of their internship application. I was to participate in another round of processing which I scaled again. In the third and final stage, I could unfortunately not proceed to the paid internship path, the organizers then proposed the unpaid path which I initially reluctantly joined. During the onboarding process, Dr. Rohit Gautam and Dr. Shifa Cyclewala, the directors at Hacktify Cybersecurity, welcomed us and gave a briefing on how the Penetration testing focused internship would run. During the first week, the vulnerabilities we tested were #HTMLinjection and #Clickjacking. It started easy as these were pretty much relatively easy to understand and execute. Here, I became more used to Burp Suite utilities. With HTML injection, I had to test inputs with varying commands while for Clickjacking, I layered parts of the webpages with an in In the second week, #CrossSiteScripting(XSS), #InsecureDirectObjectReferences (IDOR) were the vulnerabilities we tested. These were a little more technical and challenging. It made sense that we were growing gradually into the work. Week 3 was even more challenging. I exploited #CrossSiteRequestForgery(CSRF), #ServerSideRequestForgery(SSRF) Week 4 entailed #CaptureTheFlag challenges. This was my first time participating in one. It was the most engaging of them all as I had to keep searching for flags using various techniques for days. A big thank you to Hacktify Cyber Security, Dr. Rohit Gautam for all the weekly live sessions and mentoring. Also to the program coordinators that made the learning process smooth. Finally, I also thank fellow participants that helped me in one way and the other. It was a challenging albeit well enjoyed couple of weeks and I'm glad I made the decision to join the internship. Looking forward to more opportunities. #penetrationtesting #cybersecurity

🚀 Excited to share my recent experience with John the Ripper (JTR) during my cybersecurity internship! In this video, I demonstrate how to use JTR in mask mode to crack a password that starts with the word "mask" followed by 8 random digits. By leveraging the powerful capabilities of JTR and the mask mode feature, I successfully cracked the password in no time. 🎉 🔧 The command I used: john --format=Raw-SHA256 --mask=mask?d?d?d?d?d?d?d?d pass.txt --fork=4 🌐 Key Points: Format: Raw-SHA256 Mask Mode: Efficiently targets specific password patterns Parallel Processing: Utilized 4 forks for faster cracking #CyberSecurity #JohnTheRipper #PasswordCracking #MaskMode #InternshipExperience #TechSkills #LearningByDoing
