#OvercomingOCD - The 32-Card, 32-Day "Go To" Quick Reminder Scramble Happy Saturday! I'm so glad I'm posting daily again on my Facebook Page "Shannon Shy - OCD can be defeated. I'm living proof"! Since I got back home in 2020 from a 2-year tour in Afghanistan, a lot has happened in my peer support world -- I published my book and online course, "Turning Points," about my strategy to overcome OCD, how I implemented it, and my peer support methodology. I produced a 32-card deck of "Go To" Reminders that folks who suffer from OCD can use in whatever way is helpful--Post around the house, carry one for a month, carry a different one each day, etc. I've also continued my virtual peer support sessions. I wasn't good at posting, however, and certainly went into a funk after the hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan. I'm motivated again, so I've begun posting every day about a different topic. Hopefully, my posts have been and will be helpful to you. Beginning Sunday, 21 January 2024 and for the next 32-days, I will post a reel of me pulling a random "Go To" Quick Reminder card from the deck, read it, and then post on my social media feeds a paragraph or two about the saying on the card. This will give you context. You can order the cards on my website. https://lnkd.in/gqnqbpYA I cover the cost of shipping in the United States. Stay strong! I'm here for you! Please share this on your page! #OCD can be defeated. I'm with you. Let's go. #OCDAdvocate #ocdtip #ocdrecoveryturningpoints #OCDrecovery #OCDdrawings #OCDawareness #OCDlife #OCDProblems #OCDSupport #OCDhelp #OCDtreatment #OCDtips #OCDWarrior #OCDadvocate

During a Functional Capacity Assessment (#FCA) you might need to explain, in detail, how you feel and the support you need, on your worst day. That’s not pleasant for anyone, and our facilitators won't ask this of you lightly. An FCA is often the first step to ensuring you have the most suitable #NDIS plan - so it’s important for them to understand why you need support. With these details and specific examples - of when, why and how you need support - we can better communicate your needs to the NDIS for the development of your plan. It can be challenging, but our empathetic social workers are trained to guide you through it. For more information, visit our website: arksc.org or call: (08) 6373 7500. #functionalcapacityassessment #psychosocialdisability #disabilitysupport #socialworker

The news may just be a headline for some people, but for First Responders it's a lived reality. It takes a tremendous personal toll to witness tragedy and to re-tell the story for families or the news. It can be difficult for First Responders to find a safe space to deal with the trauma they experience on the job, but these safe spaces do exist. With access to someone they can trust, confide in and relate to, First Responders are more likely to open up about their wellbeing. Peer Support groups are a great way to establish a system of trust and support within an organization. Our internal team of Peer Support Specialists are all retired First Responders, which makes them especially culturally competent members of the community they now serve. 🚓 If you are interested in establishing a Peer Support group within your agency, contact us through our website to schedule a training: vtresponderwellness.com #vcrw #responderwellness #peersupport #peersupportprogram #peersupportspecialist

Today is exciting. Tolchard is interviewing participants who receive support coordination services. With the NDIS calling for reform and diversification in this sector, examining new service standards, ways of working and measurements is crucial. However, we must ensure that the participant's voice informs this transition. Let's work together to ensure that their needs and experiences are at the forefront of this shift. #supportcoordination #NDISreform #participantvoice #humancentreddesign #servicedesign #codesign #socialimpact

"You help me, you teach me, I teach someone else. And that way, if we all unite and each of us teach the value of a human being’s life, we can become something better in the future.” A perfect quote to start off #recoverymonth2023. Read more in this blog post by ICH evaluator Laura McElherne!
This September, ICH is holding space for #recoverymonth2023 by celebrating an inclusive and multifaceted vision of recovery and the many paths that people take to get there.
