"Our vision … is to change the culture in economics," says Jill Caviglia-Harris (Salisbury University, Salisbury University - Perdue School of Business). "We believe more voices in the room makes a better outcome in that we are, as a whole, a better field if we’re able to use all of those voices." Harris talks with Resources Radio about her work teaching and mentoring early-career scholars in the field of environmental economics and efforts to foster diverse perspectives in the field. #ICYMI: Michael Greenstone Delivers American Economic Association (AEA) Distinguished Lecture at 2024 Conference The American Economic Association (AEA) held its Annual Meeting from January 5-7. The Annual Meeting, run in conjunction with more than sixty other economics associations, is the world’s largest gathering of economists and presents an opportunity for the best minds in economics to celebrate new achievements in economic research. Each year, dating back to 1962, the Distinguished Lecture is a highlight of the Annual Meeting. EPIC Director Michael Greenstone, the Milton Friedman Distinguished Service Professor in Economics, delivered the AEA’s 2024 Distinguished Lecture on January 5th. “Michael Greenstone’s work has transformed empirical energy and environmental economics, making huge contributions to the conduct of environmental policy in the United States and globally,” said Janet Currie, Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University and Chair of this year’s Annual Meeting. “His work shows that there doesn’t have to be any tradeoff between intellectual rigor and policy impact.” Learn more + watch the lecture: https://bit.ly/3SrgXES

I'm excited to share that I have completed all requirements and coursework for my Master of Public Policy at Duke University! My Master's Project, entitled "A Hole in the Middle? The challenge of downscaling Doughnut Economics as a local development framework" presents a quantitative approach to operationalize a recent sustainable development framework, Doughnut Economics, for use at the local level and within a high-income context to address the question: How are U.S. cities and counties performing on the social and ecological indicators of the Doughnut? I also integrate a comparative case study of Amsterdam’s local application of Doughnut Economics to identify key challenges of applying a global development framework at the local level. https://lnkd.in/ewu3RQ5g
