ACTION REQUIRED: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs have announced a $3b budget shortfall, which will likely cause impacts in the delivery of #veterans benefits. TWO things must happen. 1. #Congress must pass a supplemental funding package to address the shortfall. 2. The #VA must be held accountable to answering for this budgeting failure. Stating they are “serving more veterans than ever” is not a justification for this miscalculation. Writing checks without demanding accountability in the budgeting and appropriation process is insufficient, shortsighted, and quite frankly reckless. Click the l!nk below, EVERY DAY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 20, and tell Congress and the VA to fix this. #veteransaffairs #veteransbenefits #betheone #semperfidelis

Respectfully, Your wait times are out of control. The bad actors and their actions as highlighted by the OIG have added to these wait times. Recommendations: Train and insist that your scheduling staff to automatically refer all appointments that cannot be scheduled within 30 days of the date #veterans attempt to schedule appointments. This simple action aligns with the spirit of the Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act.
It's my responsibility to provide the safest, highest-quality care to our #veterans and offer the best environment possible to our employees who provide that care. Below is my message to our team at the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System following two separate reports from Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General. Their investigations will help ensure Veterans, employees, and stakeholders have full confidence in the quality and integrity of the leaders and care delivery provided.

Among the 18 million veterans in the U.S., less than half are enrolled in VA healthcare, with only 6 million actively using these services. Jenn Kerfoot, a former Navy corpsman and current Chief Strategy & Growth Officer at DUOS, unpacks in a recent article featured on STAT the bureaucratic maze veterans face post-service, from shocking statistics to sobering realities. The suicide rate for veterans stands alarmingly at 72% higher than that of non-veteran adults, reflecting a deep and pressing need for better access to mental health and medical care. In the article, Jenn advocates for systemic changes to bridge this gap, including automatic VA enrollment for all honorably discharged veterans, streamlined communications between health agencies, and a simplification of the processes that currently hinder veterans from receiving the care they deserve. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/g7cm94Kv As part of our ongoing support for our veterans, DUOS is proud to partner with Humana in a newly launched initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare experiences through technology, improving access and outcomes. This meaningful partnership reaffirms our commitment and dedication to improving the well-being of our veteran communities. 🇺🇸 #VeteranHealth #VeteranCare #HonorOurVeterans #Veterans #Healthcare #SuicidePrevention

Have you signed your GP practice up to become Veteran Friendly Accredited? Our recently commissioned study of nearly 5,000 veterans found that 55% of them have experienced a mental or physical health issue potentially related to their service since leaving the armed forces. Despite this, one in seven veterans (14%) who have experienced service-related issues have not sought help from a healthcare professional, meaning thousands may be silently struggling. Our findings show that almost two-thirds (63%) of veterans would be more likely to seek help for any issues they might experience if they knew their GP practice was Veteran Friendly Accredited. The Veteran Friendly Accreditation scheme is a quick-to-implement, free support programme that sends a strong signal to veteran patients. Getting accredited only takes 20 minutes and will enable you and your practice team to easily identify, understand and support veterans. Where appropriate, signing up can also help you refer them to specialist healthcare services designed especially for veterans - improving health and wellbeing outcomes and saving you time by reducing repeat appointments and shortening waiting times for diagnosis and treatments. Veteran Friendly practices could encourage thousands of military veterans who may be silently struggling with their health to seek help. Join the 3,000+ practices who are already Veteran Friendly. Visit our website to sign up. ➡️ rcgp.org.uk/veterans #VeteranFriendlyGP

Why was the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs so late to tell us about a $3 BILLION benefits shortfall? We should never be late for #Veterans! If Congress doesn't fix this by 9/20, our heroes won't get their payments on 10/1. With 4 DAYS LEFT, send a #PVActionForce letter: https://lnkd.in/eng7_PzK.
