This is a man who destroyed people for disagreeing with him so... Picking and choosing phrases of his to show him as a great leader is a bit confusing

The whole system feels rigged if managers are insecure of their team members. The first and most important step of becoming a manager is to let your team shine and if you can't do that then you are simply a 'talented' individual who got a good promotion without the skills to be a good manager.

What does smarts have to do with doing the job? Everyone started somewhere and most likely they were not the smartest or even knew what to do at some point. Being smart should not be the first priority when hiring. I'd rather have on my team someone who wants and has the ability to learn and grow over someone "smart".

Allowing smart employees to lead and make decisions brings numerous benefits. It fosters innovation, as these individuals often contribute fresh, creative ideas. This approach also enhances their sense of ownership and motivation, as they feel more responsible and valued in their roles. The diverse perspectives they offer lead to more comprehensive and effective solutions. Such an environment is key to retaining talent, as employees are more likely to stay where their input is respected. These team members are often more adept at identifying and solving problems efficiently, given their closer connection to daily operations. Additionally, this practice cultivates a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization, leading to sustained growth and success.

This perspective on talent management emphasizes the value of hiring intelligent individuals not merely to follow instructions but to contribute their expertise and insights. It underscores a collaborative and empowering approach, recognizing that a team’s strength lies in the diversity of ideas and skills that each member brings. By fostering an environment where smart people can share their perspectives and take initiative, organizations can tap into their full potential for innovation and problem-solving. While hiring smart individuals is essential, it's equally important to provide clear direction and leadership. And there's a fine line between providing necessary directions and engaging in micromanagement.
