What goes up must go down… and that’s likely to be true for everyone’s balance sheets. According to Retail Week, British shoppers are expected to send back £1.5bn worth of Christmas gifts this year, according to research by Manhattan Associates. That’s a staggering 67 million gifts forecasted to be returned. This volume creates ongoing challenges for retailers—not just in handling the logistics of returns but also in managing the ripple effect of unwanted stock, operational strain, and financial loss. It raises an important question: How can we rethink the return process to make it more efficient and sustainable? From leveraging technology to improving inventory planning or even encouraging better purchasing decisions, the solutions need to be bold and forward-thinking. Returns aren’t going away, but how we handle them could define the future of retail. How is your business preparing to tackle these challenges? #ecommerce #retail #sustainability #challenges
