This article is worth a read.... I can't imagine the time, effort, loss of efficiency and also if Asda and the Walmart group will ever get back to the true accuracy of their stock. The manual updating of daily stock until reconciliation is done on tens of millions of stock items could be catastrophic for the Walmart buying teams. In effect this is being put down to a system upgrade, but it was only the system upgrade and implementation of a new Warehouse system that found the problem. Having a new warehouse system alongside the ERP never solved the issue...why? TOO MANY SILOS! That is why there is a trend towards using best of breed cloud applications to integrate into mission critical systems and a need to address DATA processes and WORKFLOWS in the supply chain so that these issues don't exist. Not just plug in a warehouse system and go, "that'll work" If Walmart's issue happened to a smaller company it would be bankrupt. Data utilisation and accuracy is key, especially with trends in AI and the need for a collaborative supply chain. Use of tools and platforms such as Scanmatix can offer a single source of truth and utilise data to define workflows, improve processes and most importantly break down silos by providing your mission critical warehouse and ERP systems the correct stock data so that everyone is singing off the same hymn sheet and your finance teams aren't spending weeks of manual manpower reconciling truth. Basic Functions of #SAP Retail Pricing Every merchandise that is to be sold at the store needs a price. The basis of this price can differ depending on various situations; for example – when supplied via the DC, when supplied by the supplier directly etc. With Retail pricing, you analyze the possible ways to arrive at the suggested ‘retail’ price for a material for a particular store. To be able to sell materials, you must define retail prices for stores and other points of sale. In the cases where merchandise is subject to a logistics process with several steps, you also need to define the transfer prices that are charged by certain organizational units (such as distribution centers) to the organizational units receiving the merchandise. The sales price calculation function (retail pricing) allows you to maintain retail prices and DC transfer prices (together known as sales prices) efficiently for plants (stores and distribution centers) and other operational units.

Opting for agile, user-friendly customization and prioritizing a design ethos centered around users, we can ensure that technology serves them, not the other way around. Incremental changes empower end-users to shape applications based on their needs, minimizing disruption and maximizing efficiency. We should shift the burden away from end-users and offer applications with minimal liability, allowing users to customize without incurring additional expenses. Flexibility is key to adapting to evolving needs, and users should have the freedom to exit if the solution or the service doesn't resonate with them, and without additional costs.
