How can mushrooms help support regenerative farming methods? At Booneslick Heritage Farm, a family-owned flower and vegetable farm in Mid-Missouri, mushrooms are an integral part of the agriculture system. Matt Arthur, the farm's co-owner, is on a mission to improve overall soil health and reduce fertilizer use through a handful of regenerative practices. For instance, their Golden oyster mushrooms aren't just a crop. Post-harvest, they're turned into compost gold—used to feed worms, making a natural fertilizer known as worm castings, also a seed starting mix. Talk about a full-circle farm-to-fork (and back-to-farm) story! #regenerativefarming #regenerativeagriculture #sustainablefarming #mycology #mushrooms
