The University of Toronto is building a new 14-storey mass timber building expected to be the tallest academic timber structure in Canada and one of the tallest mass timber and steel hybrid buildings in North America. Pomerleau won the contract for the preconstruction, value engineering, design-assist and construction of the University of Toronto Academic Wood Tower, which, at 14 storeys and 77 metres high, will be the tallest mass timber structure in Canada. The new tower is expected to become a landmark example of tall hybrid steel-timber structures and will house Rotman executive programs, the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Mass timber projects, while increasing in popularity, are not yet commonplace. https://lnkd.in/gWrHdjFx

The Mount Marty University Student Government Association met with Maya Struhar from RDG Planning & Design — who is working on Ideas Flow Here: Yankton 2045, a comprehensive plan for the City of Yankton-Municipal Government — to discuss what Mount Marty students think Yankton may need. Trey Vande Kop '25, president of SGA, said, "It was great having the opportunity to express our positive thoughts of the Yankton community and to suggest areas of improvement. Mayor Michelle Wu and Superintendent Mary Skipper today announced that Boston Public Schools has been invited into the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) Eligibility Period, the first step in the MSBA construction process to support a major renovation of the Ruth Batson Academy in Dorchester. Under the leadership of Ruth Batson Academy School Leader Ondrea Johnston, the school offers rigorous coursework and early college pathways, in partnership with UMass Boston and the Columbia Point community. The renovation will enable this in-demand high school to serve a larger student body in grades 7-12, as called for in the City’s long term facilities plan, and allow for a deeper partnership with UMass Boston.
