Re-engaging adult learners is a crucial yet complex task for colleges and universities. Often, institutions rely on DIY methods such as reaching out via emails or phone calls, but these efforts come with significant limitations. Bandwidth: Internal teams often juggle multiple priorities, lacking the resources to engage a vast number of learners and personalize outreach to meet individual needs. Complex Engagement: ReUp's data reveals that effective re-engagement requires an average of 29 interactions per learner, a number that exceeds the capacity of most in-house teams. Institutions can overcome these challenges by leveraging technology and specialized knowledge to scale their efforts. Digital Education & Innovation | Driving change in education with technology & inclusivity. Background photo? My students' way of saying 'Go beyond 5 stars'. 🌟 Views are my own
To pivot towards a more inclusive future, the education sector must shed its one-size-fits-all skin. Tailored approaches honouring the unique journeys of learners with special education needs (SEN) should become the norm. These are students who, due to varied challenges, require strategies that ensure access to equitable learning opportunities. SEN is not about intellectual deficiency—it's about recognizing and celebrating different learning styles. Inspired by Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, we're learning to appreciate the varied dimensions in which individuals excel, i.e. how they are smart (i.e. what kind of intelligence), not just how smart they are ("how much" intelligent they are). In practice, this means personalized teaching methods, assistive technologies, and environments designed for accessibility. The impact? Transformative. Consider how text-to-speech software can revolutionize learning for students with dyslexia, boosting confidence, independence, and academic achievement. This shift towards inclusivity benefits students with SEN and enriches our entire educational ecosystem, adding depth, empathy, and a broader understanding of human potential. How are you contributing to this transformative movement? Share your experiences or ideas that champion diversity in learning. Let's nurture every learner's potential and drive towards a more empathetic educational landscape together. With chronic absenteeism on the rise, educators are seeking new ways to deepen student engagement and belonging. Here are three promising approaches: • Seeing Students' Potential: Identify and support underrepresented students in advanced courses. • Expanding Graduation Pathways: Create community-informed graduate profiles and capstone projects. • Building Teacher-Student Relationships: Use digital tools to foster meaningful connections. These strategies can help create a more inclusive, engaging learning environment. What methods have you found effective in your school?

🌟 Shifting from Implementation to Improvement in Education 🌟 It's time to move beyond mere implementation in education and embrace improvement science. Rather than hastily applying proven techniques for quick fixes to major challenges, we must adopt a methodical, teacher and student-guided approach. By addressing specific classroom issues incrementally, using solutions proven to work, we pave the way for real and sustainable change. We've been hard at work developing the Classroom Education Plan (CEP), a job-embedded professional learning platform designed to streamline access to vast research resources. CEP guides every teacher with evidence-based strategies, tracks impact, and provides real-time insights into student progress and well-being. Our goal? Empowering K-6 educators to identify evidence-based strategies tailored to their classrooms' most urgent needs while keeping student and teacher voices front and center. It's time to shift our focus from simply implementing evidence-based solutions to continually enhancing them for lasting impact. Let's collaborate to prioritize student and teacher voices for a brighter future in education. Why do we live in a world where we have stopped perceiving the full spectrum of who we are? Most of us have been taught to be and think a certain way. Our contemporary form of education diminishes the idea that there are diverse visions, many knowledge frameworks, and many streams other than mainstream visions of what learning, knowing, sensing and being could be. There are good reasons to why we need to open a new chapter for the student in the world’s classroom. Also, we need to process the circumstances of what it means to be a teacher, and to question with care the complexities of being one in a system that is changing. Students, real people in real schools and universities struggle to act in a context where there is little listening or engagement from the holding environment to their inner world. To imagine a different approach where one can be educated how to live and deal with the subjective experiences, insights, and questions, is needed. Classrooms are still sites of exclusion where its structures, and systems, and theories derive from a power of universality. There is no magic there ✨ I have a deep longing for a form of education that is not solely determined by its principles of standardization, or coming from an place of being over consummated with explanations without real human interactions. I imagine education to come alive and open up differently. "The call to revolutionize schooling is not so much an attempt to create a new world, as it is an invitation to lean into the mystery of the world that now is, and re-engage with it." – Bayo Akomolafe. A key finding from The Education Hub's recent report The Illusion of Inclusion exploring how well the school system supports neurodivergent students was the need for teachers and leaders to build their knowledge about neurodivergence and how to support neurodivergent students at both the whole school and classroom level. As one student wrote: “The biggest impact you could ever have is by educating teachers and schools on the different disorders, what they look like, how they feel and the challenges for the students. If a teacher doesn't understand these disorders, they can’t first of all empathise with their students or support them.” The Education Hub has developed two online courses, one focused on primary schools (https://lnkd.in/gA4TUXCr) and one on secondary schools (https://lnkd.in/gEVfQzy7) that support educators to build their knowledge of neurodivergence through a combination of readings, interviews with experts, case studies of schools, reflective questions and practical activities. These courses are such an exciting and important learning opportunity, and the Education Hub team have done a phenomenal job bringing them together. The courses are designed for flexible engagement, enabling participants to fit their learning around their schedule. And with lifetime access, it’s possible to return to the learning over time. #professionaldevelopment #professionallearning #neurodiversity #teachers #education #schools
