TechMet chairman and CEO Brian Menell was speaking at the EIT RawMaterials Summit in Brussels yesterday where the EU announced a procurement system for critical raw materials. Brian has welcomed the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) as a good first step in terms of setting targets. But he said the sector required more urgent support and action from Europe. “European industry have been slow and bureaucratic and unimaginative relative to the automakers in the US, and some of the players in Korea and Japan. States, governments and EU institutions have been in evolution but not at a point where we can engage on funding. We need support, we can’t rely on the markets and we need it now, at scale," he said.” #criticalminerals #climateaction #renewableenergy #RawMaterials #RMSummit2024 #sustainability #investments
