Reuters Events Energy Transition reposted this
Last week, I had a great chat with Owen Rolt at Reuters Events Energy Transition to unpack how energy stakeholders are meeting increasing demand, today’s policy landscape, and what’s needed to pave the path to progress. A few thoughts off the back of our discussion: ▪️ When it comes to ensuring an equitable global transition, we need to meet markets where they are along their journeys. By optimizing what’s available across energy industries, we improve the likelihood that energy demands can be met with the lowest carbon footprint. This requires a variety of low-carbon sources and simultaneous decarbonization efforts. ▪️ To ensure a credible and timely transition, greater policy stability is required. Many of our customers are making investments with a 20-30+ year time horizon. I’ve witnessed how difficult it is for companies big or small to plan their investment strategy, ensure a solution is bankable and drive projects forward in the face of instability. ▪️ There’s an opportunity to increase energy efficiency with technology that is available today. In another fireside, NextEra Energy Resources’ Petter Skantze spoke about how long it takes to integrate new loads onto the grid. Almost 50% of electricity generated globally goes through an electric motor. By adopting high-efficiency motors & drives solutions we can reduce energy consumption and put up to 10% capacity back on the grid. At the end of the day, it’s one sky everything is being emitted into and we share a collective goal of reducing emissions. Let’s not lose sight of how to do that. #GET24 #NetZero #EnergyTransition #ABBenergyIndustries
Lucky to be part of ABB and ABB Energy Industries, whose technology and people support decarbonization and energy transition efforts
A pleasure as always, Brandon - thank you for another great conversation.

3moI was not familiar with ABB until the NYC Event and your chat with Owen. I spent some time at the ABB site. A great company with a long history of excellence, efficiency, and a great vision of the future of energy.
