Juneteenth has become the most well-known celebration for the ending of slavery in the United States. In fact, it is viewed by some as America’s second Independence Day. The history of this important celebration is complex and often misunderstood. #Juneteenth isn’t a straightforward story of emancipation, nor did it necessarily improve conditions in short order, or across the country. Freedom was not a straight line from the Emancipation Proclamation to Juneteenth to the Civil Rights movement. In fact, there's around 100 yrs between the Revolutionary War, Juneteenth, and MLK. Individuals had to fight for every piece of freedom they experienced and the struggle for justice that started long before the war did not end with emancipation. Today, we celebrate #freedom, #perseverance, and the value of people. May we each recogize where injustice exists and champion the oppressed.

I have a Dream too and I am Neither Jew or Greek -- We cannot refrain from learning from the tides of History the root causes that spells doom on basic human rights and cannot but help address the undercurrents as the "World JOINS forces in battling the unabated tides of atrocities with harrowed & languishing 'SOULS' that cannot be overlooked. Its not the diction but the ability to dictate TERMS in a manner in which safeguarding the interests of the "People On the Planet" is a huge responsibility and the "Guardians of the Galaxy" have set a Pattern for alternatives & Governance that can make a "Sustainable Difference" & for such as those who are ["Neither Jew or Greek"] landing in MARS is not what the PRIORITY is & hence the relevance of a Global Eye Movement starts to gain MOMENTUM. [Quote UnQuote::.] "We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. 1963 is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro or Jew needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro/Jew is granted his citizenship rights of a dignified LIFE in his homeland. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges. But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: in the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny, and they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. Honoring Juneteenth: A Legacy of Freedom and Resilience Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a day that marks the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States. It’s a poignant reminder of the delayed release of freedom after over 400 years of horrendous violence and abuse. On June 19, 1865, news of liberation finally reached Galveston, Texas, long after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed. This day stands as a testament to the strength and resilience of those who endured unimaginable hardships and the relentless pursuit of justice and equality. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a holiday that is celebrated annually on June 19th. This day commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the state of Texas in 1865. The history of Juneteenth dates back to the Civil War when President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, which declared that all enslaved people in the Confederate states were to be set free. However, it was not until two and a half years later, on June 19, 1865, that General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free, marking the official end of slavery in the United States. On this day, many cultural events, parades, and festivals are held to celebrate the rich heritage and culture of African Americans. Traditional foods such as barbecue, red soda, and watermelon are also a part of the celebrations. Juneteenth is a significant holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the United States and the triumph of freedom over oppression. It is a day to honor the struggles and sacrifices of African Americans and to celebrate their rich heritage and culture.
