The National Trust for Historic Preservation just sent out an announcement in support of SB 1166 and HB 1183, the bills that, if passed, would introduce a state historic tax credit in Florida. Did you know that owner-occupied residences that are on the national Historic Registry, either individually or through a nationally registered historic district may be eligible for a 20% state tax credit to rehabilitate the property? The New York State Historic Homeownership Rehabilitation Credit provides a 20% state tax credit on qualified rehabilitation expenditures (QRE) for the rehabilitation of an owner-occupied property. Projects must exceed $5,000 in QREs with at least 5% of the total project cost spent on exterior work.
