Transitioning from individual contributor to manager might be a lot harder than you think. According to a survey by Leadership IQ, 46% of first time managers will fail within their first 18 months of promotion to manager. Candidates often look for opportunities where they will be hired into manager positions as new managers. So new company, new responsibilities that you don't have experience performing, and now leadership expectations as well? This doesn't seem like a recipe for success.
