Can you guess this car? Hint: This car was its manufacturer's first front-engined car. One of this vehicle's distinctive features was its pop-up headlights, which became a signature element of the car's design. While often criticized for not being as performance-oriented as other models of its era, this car did have success in motorsport, particularly in the SCCA racing series. Brooklands invents tachymeter for accurately measuring speeds of today’s 300mph supercars: Tachmeter scales have been a staple fixture of racing chronographs since Longines introduced the method for measuring a car’s speed over a one kilometre on a 1913 timekeeper. Tachymeters have evolved since then, but continue to focus on measuring speed over a defined distance; normally a mile or kilometre. The measurement, of course, is obsolete […] The post Brooklands invents tachymeter for accurately measuring speeds of today’s 300mph supercars appeared first on WATCHPRO.

🚩 Mr Stroll & the God Odin In Norse mythology, the Valkyrie were a group of maidens who served the god Odin and were sent by him to the battlefields to choose the slain worthy of a place in Valhalla. Aston Martin and Heart of Racing will enter two Valkyrie hypercars in the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. Their objective is an overall victory in the Hypercar class. A bit of history: 2016 Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing partnered to develop a hypercar, initially codenamed AM-RB 001. Also, a way of stopping Adrian Newey from leaving to join Ferrari by allowing him to be the 'Lead Designer.' (ref: Previous article). The brief was to create a road-legal car with Formula 1 performance. The name, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, was announced in 2017. Cosworth built the V12 engine, and Rimac provided the hybrid battery system. In 2018, prototype testing began with a focus on aerodynamics. In 2019, the 6.5-litre V12 engine was announced, claiming 1,000 bhp plus an electric motor for a combined 1,160 bhp. Also, the Valkyrie appeared at events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Production plans were limited to 150 road cars and 25 track-only versions (Valkyrie AMR Pro). During 2020, Covid inevitably slowed development. In 2021, final rigorous testing and first deliveries planned. Ten cars, fewer than planned, were delivered in the last quarter of 2021, causing the company to miss its profit target. In 2022, full-scale production starts at Aston Martin's Gaydon facility. However, there are drawbacks to owning a vehicle designed like a Formula One racing car. According to a Bloomberg report, servicing the Valkyrie could cost £355,000 over three years. Returning to the opening paragraph, if you replace maidens with sales ladies, the God Odin with the God Stroll, and Aston Martin in front of Valhalla, it kinda makes sense.

The Pomeroy Index is a way of measuring the relative speed of cars from different eras. The index effectively gives an idea of the advantage in the lap time that a car would have over another car racing in an entirely different era. It can also be used to compare cars that have not competed against each other. #PomeroyIndex

Harley-Davidson produced the V-Rod, also known as the V-Twin Racing Street Custom (VRSC), from 2001 to 2017. At its launch, the V-Rod introduced a more aggressive and sporty look, setting it apart from other Harley models and competing motorcycles. The design of the V-Rod was inspired by Harley-Davidson's drag-racing bikes, featuring an extended wheelbase of 67.5 inches and front forks angled at 38 degrees. In collaboration with Porsche Engineering, Harley-Davidson developed the first motorcycle in its lineup equipped with a liquid-cooled DOHC four-valve V-twin engine, dual overhead cams, and fuel injection. This engine, based on the VR 1000 racing engine architecture and dubbed the Revolution, had a 60-degree V configuration, differing from the traditional 45-degree angle of Harley’s air-cooled pushrod engines. The V-Rod's radical design marked a significant shift from Harley-Davidson's usual practice of making incremental changes with new models. It featured a larger engine with a displacement of 1130cc (68.95 cubic inches), producing 115 hp at 8250 rpm and 64.9 lb-ft of torque at 6300 rpm. Although the engine maintained the uneven firing order typical of a V-twin, its exhaust sound was distinct from more traditional Harley models. Another unique feature was its fuel tank design: the bike had a dummy fuel tank without a filler cap in the usual position, with the actual fuel stored in a tank beneath the seat. To refuel, riders had to lift the seat to access the filler cap.

1937 TALBOT-LAGO T150C ROADSTER LOT 13 - OSENAT Estimate: 600,000 - 900,000 EUR SOLD!! €468,000 1937 Talbot-Lago T150C Roadster Serial number: 90010 French registration - Probably the car of the 1937 show - Exceptional mechanics - Original condition - Desirable bodywork - Known history Anthony Lago, the famous Patron of Automobiles Talbot, considered that participation in motor racing and the construction of leisure vehicles were inseparable. In his view, cars designed for competition should have a sports version that was accessible to customers. As a result, the company became renowned for its racing-derived powertrains. The T150C, launched in 1937, derived from this vision, and was the symbol of the racing car adapted to a broader clientele. Of course, this car was always as sporty as Talbot wanted its models to be. Its 6-cylinder, 3,996 cm3 engine could reach speeds of up to 185 km/h. The example we are offering for sale was acquired new by Monsieur Fayet, an industrialist in Saint Etienne, on the occasion of the 1937 Salon de l'Auto. It was most probably exhibited at the Salon, as indicated by the date of first registration on the current Carte Grise: November 16, 1937, and the corked cylinder head cover, exclusive to Salon cars. At the end of the '40s, Monsieur Fayet decided to give the car a "facelift" by modifying the grille and bumpers. He had a small collection of sports cars, all in red. In the 50s, one of his sons borrowed one of them and lost his life at the wheel. Monsieur Fayet decided to have all his cars repainted black. The roadster changed color from bright red to the darkest black. Mr Bruno Dalmas is the second owner. A masonry contractor and collector of vintage vehicles, he met Monsieur Fayet in the 1960s. The T150C had been abandoned in a shed, sitting on candles and covered in dust. It took him around ten years to convince Monsieur Fayet to sell it to him, which finally happened in 1977, 40 years after its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show. Monsieur Dalmas in turn sold it to the current owner in 2018, 41 years after taking it out of Monsieur Fayet's hangar. By his own admission, he didn't drive the car more than 500 km during this period, but he had it put back on the road and repainted in red and black, the two colors that had been his for the first forty years of its life. Today, the car is in beautiful original condition and its mechanics have been completely overhauled. #classic #classics #classiccars #collectorcars #carcollectors #historic #vintage #performance #racing #rallying #driving #car #cars #automotiveindustry #auto #autos #autoindustry #auction #forsale #sold #automotive #investment #privatesale
